I have just read a strange and rather upsetting birth announcement in the local paper. At first it read very normal jane and john doe are pleased to announce the birth of john jr at xx hospital on the xx date weighing xx love and hugs from mummy, daddy big sister. Then it said at the bottom john jr born asleep 24 weeks

I can't believe they would put that in the paper but i guess wanted to show how much he ment to them. Still a bit odd announcing the birth of a still born child.

It really upset me, i guess i was so focussed on getting passed 12 wks i didn't think anything would go wrong later. Very sad for the family.

OH now en route to India. DD finishes school at 2pm tomorrow and DS is off already. Antenatal appointment is tomorrow morning, and plan is to take DS with me but try to persuade him to wait in the waiting room while I see the consultant. Will try to be brave and not make a banana of myself .

elasti - that is sad :( but I guess people deal with things in different ways

I'll worry until baby is born and then I'll spend the rest of my life worrying about 'em!

Well those freecycle things have gone - just enquired about some bottles and teats. Only want them if they are new though!

    You'll be fine!
I'm sure as long as DS has something to keep him occupied he'll be good as gold.

Just take a deep breath and then let it all blurt out. You could even take a piece of paper with 'PTSD very scared' on it and if you can't start off hand it to the consultant and he will prompt you which might help.

Good luck and let us know how u get on hun xxx

Thanks Glam. He got hit by the shrapnel when I fell apart the appt before last so he might well not decide to prompt any discussion about it .

My best friend had inverted nipples (both) and was told she would have no problem breastfeeding as the suction from baby would make them pop out. Unfortunately this didn't work for her with either of her two children, but she was able to express via pump and bottle feed. I would assume though, given that she got the same advice from more than one midwife, that it is sometimes possible to feed directly with inverted nipples but that it might depend on the severity/strength of baby's suck

I have inverted nipples and have b/f last 2 babies with no problems (well, not the nipples anyway!) My only problem was finding a comfortable position as i have large breasts, couldn't have done without my big cosatto nursing cushion!!!

  • Is anyone around? Skint, fingers crossed for you. I'm jealous! My little man seems quite happy where he is for now, i've even had a vindaloo tonight in effort to evict him, just made him kick me more! (and i have no idea how anyone can actually like eating Vindaloo's! ) :S

I need to book to see a midwife this week just so they can clarify that baby is engaged, just looked at my birth notes and have not been since since 30 weeks :O I've not been in as not felt the need, and everything's been okay and this pregnancy has gone really fast compared to my past 3!!. I think i'll get told off though :(
