I wasn't going to have anything - just DIY! But am having big skin problems right now! Have Acne which is related to my PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and have 2 huge spots today that came up overnight, am really worried this is going to happen on the day. Got another Dr appt this eve, as we're trying to manage the PCOS and am hopeful the next treatment will work and help my spots! I use freederm at the moment, but am thinking about some sort of proffessional treatment that I can start after christmas - any recommendations? Am also thinking of driving home from the venue (about 20 min each way) as we're staying over to have my hairdresser do my hair on the morning (just wash and style) is this mad???? (the ceremony isn't until 3.30pm)

Joolesw1972 I know exactly how you feel, I have PCOS and I don't think I've ever not had a spot on my face! I haven't got full on acne but I always have a spot or 2, I'm the same as you really worried about having a breakout before the day, which I'm certain is going to happen with the stress on-top of it all!
I've never thought about going to the docs for treatment I seem to sort of deal with it, but now you mention it, it maybe worth me making an appointment, how are you finding the freederm?
I really fancy the microdermabrasion treatments I really wanted one before the wedding but not sure if I can afford it, it's around £45 per session. Would you let me know how you get on at the docs, you can PM me if you prefer, hope they find something that helps x

  • Hi,

I'll hopefully being doing everything on my own to cut back on costs.

Make-up - I'm going for some make-up trials in the months leading up to the wedding. I've looked at Clinique and Benefit, but I really like too Faced make-up but the lady is never there when I go to check it out - arrghhh! - Then I'll be trying to replicate it on the day. I've heard about wearing stronger colours on the day, but not sure about it - we're having some engagement shots a month before, so will experiment with my make-up then and see what the photos are like.

Nails - my friend's recommended this Sally Hansen Miracle grow stuff. It's about £8, but she says it's brill, so I'll be trying that out, I will probably go for a french manicure, but everyone has them, so mulling on whether to have a colour instead.

Hair - I'm going to ask my hairdresser for a trial of something simple that I can do myself and see how we go.

Body Hair - I'll be having my usual waxing - legs and undercarriage (I may go for an 'Australian' again instead of the usual bikini depending on how brave I'm feeling)

Facial Hair - I'll be doing my own moustache (it's really fair and fine but I'm concious of it) and have booked in for a HD Brows session for next week, as my eyebrows are really sparce and pathetic so I'm hoping this will stop me having to draw them on. If it's no good, I'll just go back to filling them in by hand.

    Hi!

I'm not sure how I ended up on this thread as I got married about 5 years ago!

I've just spent about half an hour typing out a reply but it appear the site had signed me out and it was lost

So, I would just like to say that I can't recommend Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle enough (it's in a gold bottle). After wanting to try them for years, I had nail extensions fitted for the first and last time about 6 months before my wedding - they absolutely wrecked my normally healthy nails. I was recommended this product and it really did make a difference - I still use it now when I want to grow my nails and recommend it to anyone who mentions their nails! It's about £8/£9 a bottle but really worth it -I think I got mine with my Boots advantage points that I'd been saving!

I hope everyone has a fab day and I'm sure each and every one of you will look beautiful!:T
  • Hi I can second the Sally Hansen Miricle Nail growth - my friend used it for her wedding and recommended it to me - it is really good.
  • Violetta you're hilarious... much as I feel your pain about your eyebrows! And as for being a pale Celt - someone called me a moonbather the other day!!! And I'm only half Irish! I'd never heard that term before - funny though! x
  • Oh, and I want a facial peel but I'm a bit scared. And I'll need to have it soon. Eeeek! I've suffered (and still do sometimes) from acne and my absolute worst nightmare is waking up with a huge spot on the day - fingers crossed for me please?! x
  • OMG jooles and hels, I replied before I'd read your posts - obviously I feel your pain... spots are the story of my life! Def go to the dr, I've been having laser treatment on NHS for a couple of years now, which seems to be working, but doc says ultimately it's all about control til I grow out of it. I'm 29??!!!!
I've tried literally everything - acupuncture worked the best but can't afford it all the time - will def budget for it before the wedding tho! Very good for stress as well. Also go to acne . org for lots of good free advice. Also, if you feel a spot coming, hold ice on it (supposed to be for couple of minutes every few minutes but I'll hold it til i melts :-)) AND I'm never without a green concealer to go under the normal one.
Gonna stop talking now - hope this helps, and again lots of love and good happy vibes for a spot free wedding day coming your way x
  • Hi girls - for the girls with spots and PCOS have you tried Diannette - it helped with my spots. I still get the odd one but not too many now I am in my 30s. My main problem with my skin now is sometimes I get eczema - lips, eyes and ears mainly. Given the choice I would go back to spots which can be covered up. Anyway hopefully by the spring my lips and ears will have calmed down but knowing my luck I will have both on my wedding day !!
    :o
We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T

Thanks Baby - am now taking spironolactone and will see how it goes! Am in my 3rd wk and the spots don't seem as severe! Hope I 'grow out of it' at some point - I'm 37!!! Will look at acne.org and will def try ice! Thanks
