I have dug up this old thread so that anyone who dose not know about Kefir can have a read .

My Kefir has grown to such an extent with nobody taking any off my hands that I now need to get rid of some and it is too good to throw away .

I have enough for 2 starter colonies so anyone who wants it can PM me. Due to the coming warm weather a local pick up in the Halifax-Calder Valley area would get preference but I will post at your own risk at cost including instructions on how to cultivate Kefir .

Kefir is tough but 5 or six days in Royal Mails hands could kill it ! Hence local pick up or delivery preferred .

Just wanted to say that I've been converted to kefir!

I make my mum half a pint of raw goats milk kefir every day to drink (she has terminal cancer :,( ) and she loves it.

For ourselves, I make cows kefir soft cheese every 48 hours which disappears as soon as it is strained.

    I utterly recommend it.

    It's miraculous stuff!

I forgot to add, I made a creamy sugar free frosting for my gliten and sugar free cakes a couple of days ago using just kefir soft cheese and honey blended together.

    Luscious!

Mine's lurking in the freezer. Might just go and see if it will come back to life.

My house is like a laboratory! I always have milk kefir, water kefir and kombucha on the go.

Currently draining some home made yogurt to make greek yogurt.

We use the milk kefir mostly in smoothies but occasionally baking, pancakes etc, but have to be careful of the waistline!

The water kefir is just gorgeous, zingy and fizzy.

My favourite though is the kombucha.

I did let some of my grains die off a few years back. Then I bought another lot of ebay and they were horrible. I gave up with them and purchased another lot and they are divine, so creamy and mild.
