    Each to his own.
I make both now, and I prefer kefir, as does youngest daughter. Other DD and OH prefer yoghurt.

I have looked into this (following successful attempts at yogurt making) but the only place I can find the grains is ebay or some guy giving them away on a yahoo group.
I wonder really what I would be getting, is it a bit dodgy?

I got mine from the yahoo fermented foods group, and it's been great.
I've been supplying friend and family so far, but there are several people offering it there.

I wondered if this link might be useful to anyone.

    http://www.torontoadvisors.com/Kefir/kefir-list.php

It covers the whole world but if you scroll down there are loads of people in the UK willing to share for the cost of postage or let you collect for free.
Oh dear, here we go again.

Hi, I really wanted to try this, as me and dd love natural yog, quark etc, I did post on my local freecycle, but no luck. I've found this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/kefir_W0QQitemZ140102634379QQihZ004QQcategoryZ43398QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem) and wondered if this is the right stuff?

    Many thanks

I went completely loopy about making kefir. Used to sell off my spare grains on ebay but there was lots of competition so gave up. I have two jars of the stuff languishing in my fridge for the last few months. I may give them a go to see if they still work.

It was fun while it lasted, but unfortunately I am far too disorganised to ever keep to any kind of routine!

I only ever drank it in smoothies, mixed with home made yoghurt, sadly another routine I have got out of.
