    Hi all!

Quick visit back to wish you all a Merry Christmas. My son won't know what has hit him this year - far less presents than he used to get when we were knee deep in credit card bills and other debts.:eek::eek:

Just opened him a bank account for his $10 per week pocket money. The plan is he does certain chores at home and his pocket money is transferred directly to his bank account each Monday. Trying very hard to instil good saving habits in him at a young-ish age. Pleased to say at long last I'm setting a good example on that front this time round.:A

Hubby and son are heading back to Scotland for a surprise 2 week trip on Boxing Day. The flights cost a couple of dollars under $5k, but we paid for the flights from our tax rebates, and we have been saving in a jar for their spending money and accumulated $2000! No more bad spending habits for us.

Very excited as tonight we are off to see some showhomes so we can choose our builder for our new home. My next obsession is bound to be finding a way to pay off my mortgage in less than the term.

Still very happy in Australia, missing being in such regular touch with many of you but I'm afraid that seems to be the pace my life is moving at over the last 18 months. I still think of you all at the end of each day when I transfer any odd amounts from our current account to our savings, and marvel at all the tips we shared between us and how well the small things seem to work.

Have a wonderful Christmas, keep plugging away at remaining debts. I remember the festive period seemed to be when my momentum slipped for a few weeks/months and some bad habits temporarily crept back:o. Maybe it was something to do with the mulled wine and all that:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Thought I'd send you all a picture of the block of land we have purchased to build our dream home on. It overlooks my hubby's favourite hole on Secret Harbour Golf Course, and will be a constant reminder of how blessed we are and how hard we worked to get here. This will be the view over our back fence where we are planning to put our pool. :D

Just tidying up my online banking and caught a glimpse of a little box in the corner showing the last 30 days - $12080 has gone into our bank! Jesus that's about 9k GBP and I know fine well that never happened in the UK!!!

Waiting on someone to pick up an old xbox game of Cole's sold on Gumtree, another $10 into the savings :D:D:D. Also someone coming at 2.15pm to collect 2 boxes of Cole's old lego - $120!!!! They sell it by the kilo over here and its worth a fortune!

Also just listed a couple of River Island dresses on our local Secret Harbour Buy and Sell Page on Facebook. They don't seem to sell for great money on Aussie eBay - probably because they are UK brands?? Anyway hoping for a bit more luck with that.

I'm killing time on here, trying to avoid clearing the garage out whilst searching for more gumtreeable goodies. Oh and there is the large bag of clothing which needs ironing and listing on eBay.

    Some things never change.

Well the nice man who bought the xbox game also bought a little pile of the figures I was selling. :j:j The River Island dress sold within an hour, and the other nice man came for the lego.:j:j

No, I didn't clear the garage out and the ebay bag needing ironing still needs ironing.:o
