Hi hun, you probably won't remember me as it's been 3 years since I last posted. I wanted to let you know that I have finally paid all my debts off and I'm debt free. It's been a long 3 1/2 years but with lots of hard work, scrimping and saving I've got there at long last. Me and hubby are still together and he's proven he is one in a million.
I was really pleased to read your thread and to see how far you have come. Just wanted to say thanks for being there when I needed that boost at the beginning of this horrible journey, and I hope nothing but the very best for you and yours for all eternity xxxAugust 2009 - Debt free - August 2013

Hi all,
Sorry I've been absent for such long periods, truth is that's probably the way it's going to be for us. It's been just over one year since we arrived in Oz, and it's slipped away so fast! Days just fly by, enjoying work, saving $500 a week towards "life" and loving family life.:j:j
We don't splurge very often, but we do have a few bargain short breaks with friends planned within WA planned for the remainder of the year. I continue to search out bargains - yes we go out for dinner but usually on a Groupon deal! I haven't changed any of my habits from the focus I had on beating our debts. I still, at the end of each day, transfer odd amounts from our current account to our savings. I have a credit card which I earn airmiles on - use it through the month and pay it in full at the end of every month.:D
I still batch cook, buy bargain cuts of meat and freeze them and look for coupons to reduce the price of my grocery shops. I'm not a different person from that overwhelmed, overworked, stressed person who first posted years ago. However I am no longer overwhelmed, overworked or stressed. I have a happy healthy family, living a fantastic fairytale like life in Australia, debt free, saving money and instilling good money habits into my child like discipline!!!! Same person, same values, different life.
It's not the case for everyone who has come to Australia I am aware of that, but we both now earn approx $120k each a year, and life is very good to us. A stark contrast to how we have lived over the last 12 years:o.
For those of you still hammering through, make your own plans, dream your own dreams. One day, you'll get them all.
As my friends had engraved on a bracelet for a leaving gift :
"She turned her cant's into can's, and her dreams into plans". Firm believer, if you can dream it, you can achieve it:D:j:D:j.
Thanks all for your support and the kicks up the butt when they were most needed;).LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free
