And I've made it to 2012! The year of the great escape downunder and my deadline for freedom from debt!:j:j:j:j

My husband dropped me at the airport today, then went to tell his parents we were emigrating. It went down like the proverbial lead balloon:o.

Never mind, all out in the open now. Bring it on! Planning to do more debt busting letters during my first return nightshift - just have to get to grips with the patients again!!!

Well on my first return nightshift I'm pooped. Despite not waking up until lunchtime yesterday (in preparation for nightshift of course ;)), I'm bleedin knackered.

No debt busting tonight, mustering just enough energy to catch the odd sprog or two and post a quick hello or two on here. Hoping for better things tonight after at least 9 hours golden beauty sleep! :D

Never mind, I doubt my debt busting would be up to scratch given today's events!! Poor hubby was so upset when his Mum started (and didn't stop) crying. Wish I could have been there to give him a big cuddle, but instead was freezing my uggs off at Heathrow waiting on a bleeding bank holiday service bus to work.:mad:

Thought I should share with you all our preliminary date for leaving for Oz is 9th July (I don't know why the 9th - its a Monday - seems a good day to start a new life, I always start a diet on a Monday).:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Added this to my signature as it makes even me laugh. I have absolutely no idea where the 9th July came from, so that's my only rationale!

    Hi Gargrave
I really hope that your plans come off. Ref the wanted down under programme, do they actually sort out all of the paperwork for you, or just take you there for a look see?

The reason I ask is that I wanted to check that you have got all of the paperwork needed to work in Australia. Different states have slightly different requirements with regards registration. It would be worth checking now to ensure that you have everything you need, and what it might cost to obtain things.

Also you will need to plan in medicals etc, in terms of money. Bear in mind that whilst the Australian economy has been more bomb proof than most, there is definitely a duality about it currently. If you are in mining then it is booming, or a service industry like nursing. But what does your hubby do? Has he started job hunting yet? Are you going in on your job?

I am sure you have done your homework, but we didn't (dumb I know) and had a right old time of it. True we have emigrated to new zealand, but even so, some of the issues surrounding paperwork are similar.

Also do you realise that you will have to pay a fair whack for children to attend school especially if you want them to go to a decent one?

Good luck with it all, and if I am teaching the proverbial to suck eggs then sorry!

No worries all the "paperwork" is in hand. Our Visa and my registration is all paid for and organised. We have organised pretty much everything - hubby is a spark and also has work and the required course he needs all lined up. Think we are looking in good shape - we have money for the medicals put by, just organising some savings for the flights at the moment.

Wanted Down Under don't do anything like that for you, because its only intended as a "go see", they don't have anything to do with your emigration.

    Thanks anyway :D

    Thank you:o.

Think things are looking a bit better today on the Mother in Law front - still upset but for slightly shorter periods.

Had a dreadful sleep - so unlike me! Woken up at 2.30pm by the Tesco delivery, then couldn't get back to sleep so really struggling my way through this nightshift!

Have of course come up with an ingenious bulletproof plan to get some sleep this morning. Will go home and have a nightcap - white wine always could put me on my back:D.

Waiting very patiently to hear from Wanted Down Under - they vaguely said we would hear beginning of January. I'm quite simply inpatient.

Will definately do the one and only letter I need to do tonight which is to Wescot accepting the 50% F&F - on my terms of course ;).
