Good luck with the down under programme. I will be interested in what you think of OZ. Do you know what part of it you want to live in yet?

My letter to Wescot not re: Cahoot (that's another one!), but this time chasing me for the smaller of the 2 HBOS overdrafts. This is one which was actually £500 but was inflated by HBOS to £771.50 with charges and interest despite being aware of my financial hardship at the time. I made a F&F of 50% of the actual amount owed (£500), not the inflated amount and set out why. They point blank turned it down, then wrote to me wondering why I hadn't replied!

    Here's my response

    Wescot Credit Services Limited
    PO Box 137
    Hull
    HU2 8HF

    Dear Sirs,

    Wescot Reference D3/xxxxxxxxxxx
    HBOS
    Client reference 310xxxxxxx

I write with reference to your letter of 29th November 2011. You state that you have not received a reply to your previous correspondence.

If you consult your records you will note my last correspondence was to make an offer of settlement based on the actual amount owed; not the amount pursued by HBOS which is inflated with charges and interest despite being aware of my financial hardship. The correspondence I received from you was declining my offer of settlement. I was not aware that this required a response. I have made you aware of my situation and made a realistic offer of settlement based on the actual amount owed. You have declined this settlement.

    Yours faithfully,

And now for the same shower - but the old Cahoot debt which we actually agreed a settlement on if you all recall..............

    Wescot Reference DM/xxxxxxxxxx
    Santander UK Plc
    Client reference 18xxxxxxx

I write with reference to your letter of 5th December 2011. You state that you are willing to offer a discount to settle the above account.

If you consult your records you will note that we have agreed a reduced settlement of £329.24, which you agreed to accept over 12 weekly payments by standing order. I have set out the terms of this agreement, however you have failed to provide me with suitable reassurance that these terms will be met. Instead you have made reference to the fact that the original creditor will not pursue me for any remaining balance, but have not (as requested), confirmed that I will be released from all future liability should another debt collection agency purchase the “outstanding balance”. You have sent a letter confirming acceptance of my repayment schedule, however you have not detailed your acceptance of the specific terms I have set out as per the example above. Until I receive a satisfactory response, specifically agreeing to the terms of the settlement offer I have proposed, then I will be unable to commence repayments. Neither have you provided the bank details in order for standing order payments to be commenced, which I have now requested on three separate occasions.

Should you require a further copy (that would be the fourth) of my specific terms in order for you to formulate an appropriate response, please advise me in writing within 14 days. If I do not receive your written response specifically to this letter within 14 days, I will refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman, as it would appear Wescot and preventing me from making a reasonable attempt to repay an agreed settlement on the above debt.

    Yours faithfully,

Michael Buble constantly on the radio crooning the odd little Christmas number, I'm feeling all Christmassy and I'm not even home yet! One more nightshift to go :D.

Oh and payday Thursday - the good news just keeps coming. My Manager is having an admin day today, therefore I will ask her to chase up the bank shift I haven't been paid for, and that will save me having to wake up early to phone the twits.

All seems rather in control for the moment, hubby is using the leftover John Lewis vouchers to purchase my Christmas present, and all is right with the world just about. It must be Christmas after all ;).
