Downloading the application form for the IELTS and posting with a cheque for £115. Test date is 22nd October. Results will be posted 13 days after the exam date. I need to get 2 recent passport pictures done for this - this is on the to do list for today :D.

Must have a productive day today - haven't listed ANYTHING on ebay this week.

    TO DO LIST:

    1. Post ebay sales
    2. Get passport photos taken for IELTS application
    3. Complete and send IELTS application
    4. Housework + laundry
    5. Get eyebrows and underarms waxed
    6. Have a real good clearout while my son is at school and see what can be ebayed
    7. Bank cheque from Global Testmarket and pennies from the jar in the wonderful machine at RBS.

Just made a boiled egg for breakfast - can't possibly start the list until Jeremy Kyle is finished :D.

The postman has been - marginally better than yesterday. It's a letter from the Post Office weirdly enough!
A £10 payment letter as a refund for the old Post Office savings stamps I found :D.

    Other than that nada :(

Anyway Jeremy Kyle is finished, and my boiled egg is in my tummy. Best get on and do "stuff"!

Have printed IELTS application form - it asks me for the bodies I want my results sent to? I take it I will need to apply to the Australian equivalent of the NMC first - then put them down as where I want the results sent. Confused.com:mad:.

Need to get the rest of my list done then have some brainspace to compute the whole scenario. I'm not paying an immigration agent. If I can bust £20k of debt, I can arrange to move my family to the other side of the world:D.

Just checked the other forum I joined - Perth Poms - sorry - I've been unfaithful:p.

Some lovely lady who is also a midwife and planning to emigrate to the very same area as us - has shared all her information with me. I've copied her post below - she is my new friend :heartsmil.

"I have done quite a bit of groundwork, so much my head hurts! I was very confused as to whether I needed to sit IELTS, as some people told me that because I have a degree I wouldn't need it but then an agent told me I would, so to be on the safe side I am taking it next Saturday (17th).

You need to check out the APHRA website on http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov...rnational.aspx and download the application form for overseas applicants. Its pretty clear about what you need to provide to register as a midwife with them, you will need to get a transcript from the university where you trained (mine cost £10), they also need verification from the NMC if you go to their website and click on the registrations section and request a verification pack, for a fee of £34 they then forward proof to the APHRA. They also need an up to date CV and proof of employment from previous employers, all of which need to be verfied before you can send it off.

I just sent in prospective emails with CV letting them know I was applying for permanent residence in Aus, most of them are prepared to sponsor you on a 457 (4 year temporary visa) which processes in 8-12 weeks with a view to sponsoring for a permanent visa after 6 months in the job. The benefit of employer sponsorship means they foot the majority of the costs associated with the visa and you get there quicker.

Sorry if this is all a little confusing, happy to clarify things further. Just ask if you need to know anything, I'll try my best to give you any help you need.

    Kirstie x"

Sounds like this is the way to go (and cheaper too!!!) xx Julie:T

Well I am back, hairless and soon to be brainless, as I attempt to make a start of my Oz stuff.

Have emailed the NMC for the verification pack I need to transfer my registration. Contacted Glasgow Caledonian University to arrange a transcript of my training. When I go back to work I have to prepare a statement of employment on headed paper, which one of the Band 7's have said they are happy to sign :D.

Just checked out hubby's 17th edition course he needs to do - £174, and its local. Dates are 22 November and 1 December - will wait on him coming home to see what date he wants, then will book it. Very excited :D
