Thanks SBO - I'm starting to feel like its real.

We would start with no credit record in Oz apparently, but I know we have both learned our lessons and will not repeat our actions over the last ten years. We will be careful and with good salaries will have no reason to borrow. Hoping to go with enough to buy a cheap car, then maybe in a couple of years may take out car finance. NO CREDIT CARDS, NO HP!!!!

Ummm, I think you are doing an amazing job of debt busting and really admire you for working so far from home to achieve it but isn't car finance and HP the same thing ?

*sneaks back under my rock (but only for a second)*

Has the vicious beastie been caught yet?

    Has DS got home safe?

    * really am going this time, byee :)*

You are of course right, but what I mean is when we get to Oz I don't plan to take HPs on sofas, tvs etc. I'm happy to take a loan for a car (or HP) but I want that, our rent (soon to be mortgage!) and bills to be our only expenditure. I want to be a saver not a spender. Break the (bad) habits of a lifetime!:A

My son made it home in one piece (albeit picked up by his friends mum on the road home and dropped off:p), and the vicious beastie remains wild.

Strongly thinking again against using an agent - I CAN DO THIS!!! Will need to look at it methodically.

    We all know I like a challenge:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

The agent wanted £55 for our meeting on Saturday - thats almost 50% of my English test!!!!

Watch this space as I plan to make a list (or two - one for hubby's requirements and one for mine).

    OK THE LIST SO FAR:

IELTS TEST FOR ME (doesn't look like hubby needs this)
Find Solicitor to certify documents e.g. degree, passports, birth and marriage certs, etc.
Apply for my qualification to be "rubber stamped".
Find out whether hubby needs white card (necessary to get on a building site in Oz apparently).
Get hubby to apply for registration with the appropriate Oz body
Then find out more about whether hubby can get a job then apply for his A License or will only earn an apprentice wage until he gets license.
Ask NMC to send confirmation to relevant Australian body
When I get confirmation of registration - apply for VISA
Find out whether 2nd payment on visa applies to us - refers to application of second payment for dependents with sub optimal English!!
    Open Oz bank account
    Apply for jobs!!!

    The beast has been recaptured!!!

12 hours of freedom ended when I met him half way up the stairs last night. I of course froze with fear and screamed "ALAN" at the top of my voice. Hubby ran to the rescue and tried to scoop up the evil one. Evil Alvin then tried the old "eyes popping out of his head" trick. Hubby thought they might ACTUALLY pop out, and released the beast.

Anyway the comedy continued and we eventually scooped him into a shoe box :D. Needless to say he is p!ssed off:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
