Good morning all
Back to London this afternoon for 5 nights (2 of which are bank), and 3 long days then back home to a whole weeks post:j
Well, turns out I didn't win the lottery.
On the plus side have checked in for my BA flight on my iphone and saved my boarding pass to that - no cost for paper or inkjet cartridges.
Hubby and I have been talking a'lot this weekend, and have decided to up sticks and move to Oz. This gives us a new deadline to be debt free - hopefully by October 2012:eek:.
I hope you will all help me keep up the momentum, as these are not likely to be pain free savings. But, it will mean our family will be together for a whole new adventure and the start to a debt free life together. Hubby and I are both on the skilled list, he has contacts in Perth Australia who will get him a start the week after we arrive. Hubby is an Electrician, and needs to do his 17th edition before we go which is a few hundred pounds - but his boss has agreed to book it for him and take £30 a week from his wages to pay for it. Obviously his boss doesn't know he will be doing it with a view to leaving!!
As you all know I'm a midwife expected salary for me out there is around $56k and hubby's friends take home around $100k in Perth, so hopefully we can make a nice life - although I expect it do be tough.
I'm going to repost our totals sooner than October as I thought as we have work to do to get them down!!!:TLBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

hiya
wow what a fab journey and now thinking of moving to oz,, wish you lots of luck and why not, life is too short to keep struggling ive come to that conclusion myself now,
i shall keep looking in and hope to encourage you on your way
i myself am looking at getting on a course to teach english to other nationals ie in italy with a view to either teach english privately or get into a school etc, this would be for the future once our dd has set up with work for herself after her college, she hopes to work in the make up industry and involve travel and tourism in that too - i think she would be fab on a cruise ship or on a set of a film crew, her dreams too but hey she has to look and find her own way but i cant really see her staying here if she could work abroad,
back to italy would be a dream for my hubby although my parents live 6 months there and 6 months here at the mo, it would enable my hubby to live with his relatives and friends in our later lives, thats our dream
anyway know it would be tough initially but the pros got to outweigh the cons surely good luck
take care maz:cool:Sealed Pot Challenge member 1525

In a real mood to get things in motion. Have just typed a letter and written a cheque for the final £233.65 due on the Santander loan.
One less debt.:j:j:j:j:j:j
By the time they receive the cheque and present it, my bank shift money will be in the bank to cover it (Thursday ~ £200 for a nightshift).
I have one bank payment for a nightshift due in next week too, so just off to see who I can make a F&F to that would be covered by that.:cool:LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

The 2 items I sold on ebay which went for the most (ipod £56 and louis vuitton cosmetic purse £28) have not paid. Have opened unpaid item disputes but expect I will have to relist these:mad:.
Anyway, off to browse the boards to see what success has been gained from Barclaycard F&Fs, and HBOS F&Fs (especially when there is no valid CCA).

Just a quick update whilst I'm powering through (must be the roll and bacon and the orange lucozade this morning:j).
I've sent off a F&F letter to an old debtor - an old Cahoot loan - total owed £658. They have had nothing from us for around 18 months:o. I've CCA'd them and zilch - not even a response. It's a fairly old loan around 2003 - applied for online. I doubt they have it (and if they have they are keeping it to themselves:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:).
Anyway sent off the bog standard F&F letter and appended this onto the end. I have of course included a paragraph at the top of the letter reminding them that they have not responded to our repeated requests for a true copy of the CCA, and that without these they will be unable to obtain a CCJ against us, although accepting the debt remains in existence. I have reiterated that I am committed to repaying our debts, but cannot afford to settle the amount owed in full. Thought it was important to put a time limit on it, and to ensure they understood my explicit instructions to deal only with the matter in writing;).
"This offer is made on the clear understanding that, if accepted, neither you or any associate company will take any other action to enforce or pursue this debt in any way whatsoever and that I will be released from any liability. This offer is made solely on the condition that this payment will settle the account in full, and not as a contribution to the balance. Therefore, this offer is made only available until 18th September 2011, whereby, if I have not received your written response, I will be using these funds to make an offer to one of our other creditors.
I also request that, if accepted, you will mark any entry on a credit reference agency file relating to the above account as "satisfied" in full. Given the legality of the this agreement, I explicitly request that we correspond only in writing. Should I receive a response from Santander requesting that I call a number to discuss this by telephone, I shall assume that you have declined my offer and make a similar offer to an alternative creditor.
Payment can be made within 14 days of receiving your written agreement of this offer, as I received the cheque for my rebate on 26th August 2011."LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free
