Yesterday I cooked a lovely vegetable soup, using the Stew functions, then added millet and cooked on stew.
Today it's beef casserole, onion, garlic, a splash of wine and some veggies. Then all slow cooked. It smells delicious, it must be the bay leaves and Juniper!
I find the settings a bit of a pain sometimes, not flexible enough. For example fry is too high for onions and garlic and I use reheat instead.
Has anyone else had problems?
Packaging aside, yes its great :j Daughter made some soup, started by using the fry setting, then boil for 10 minutes before turning to slow-cook for an hour or so. When she finished work late at night she then used the re-heat function which heated it up very quickly, just what she wants when getting home in the early hours.
Haven't tried pasta as yet although she put some macaroni in her soup0 -
v nice dish in mine tonight - potatoes, onion, apple and cubed belly pork with a bit of oil and done on the bake programme. The tight seal on the cooker keeps it all nice and moist but at the same time the temperature got high enough for the potatoes to get crisp0

terra_ferma you mentioned on another thread that you use yours for boiled eggs:terra_ferma wrote: »Other functions: boil (it automatically brings the water to a boil then the timer kicks in, perfect for boiled eggs)
How long do you cook your boiled eggs for on the boil setting?
I use mine for scrambled eggs all the time as it cooks them in about 30 seconds flat! I would like to be able to do boiled eggs too but they always turn out too hard.0 -
But the minimum time setting for Boil is 10 minutes (at least, it is on my machine). Have I missed something, or do you just stop the programme and rescue the eggs manually, after timing them separately? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Oops, yes, you're right. We like 3-minute eggs, and I remember thinking that the Boil setting couldn't handle that but, as you point out, I misremembered the minimum figure. It still means we can't use the Intellichef for boiled eggs, unfortunately, although I must get round to trying it for hard-boiled eggs.
The system defaults seem rather odd, generally, don't you think? I can't imagine that 42 minutes could be suitable for frying anything, given that my onions start to go brown after five minutes or so! And I can't work out the difference (if any) between the Fish, Meat and Vegetable settings.
Adapting recipes seems to be a bit of a black art, but I love the Intellichef and use it nearly every day. Yesterday, I slow-cooked a chicken in it. Today we are having Shepherd's Pie, so I browned the lamb on the Fry setting then Stewed it with onion, celery, carrot, mushrooms, stock and various seasonings for an hour before using Reheat to thicken the gravy with Bisto powder. That mixture is now in a baking dish and I am steaming potatoes in the Intellichef, ready to mash. Later, when the assembled dish is being finished off in the oven, the Intellichef will be cooking some buttered cabbage to eat alongside the Shepherd's Pie.
I read the comments on this forum before buying the Intellichef, and I am very glad I took the plunge, so thank you for the recommendation! It is a great gadget, minimising the amount of time you have to spend physically supervising a wide range of cooking tasks -- and the excellent non-stick pot makes it very easy to clean up after cooking. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Mine has died - not sure what happened but it seemed to overheat and switch itself off when I was cooking and then just died altogether over the next couple of days. Amazon have agreed to replace though so I'm looking forward to trying again with the new one.0

I LOVE my intellichef and use it all the time. I think it has been said, though that the instructions and recipe book are not so great so it would be good to share experiences and recipes.
I was thinking of contacting Morphy Richards and asking for a bit more information on some of the programmes - particularly the cooking temperatures. For example, on fry, it goes fish, meat, vegetables to choose across the display (as you mention, Avocet). Does that mean that vegetables is the highest temperature because if I'm cooking steak, for example, I'd prefer to do that on the highest temperature. I'd also like to know what oven temperature 'bake' equates to so that I can adapt recipes to use in the multichef.
If I get round to e-mailing them, I'll let you know. In the meantime, please keep sharing your experiences as this is the only 'gadget' I've ever bought for my kitchen that is in constant use. I'm idle about washing up but this is the best non-stick and easy washing I've ever encountered - rare need to end up in the dishwasher. For that reason alone my saucepans haven't been out since I got it!0 -

When I got the machine, I started a blog describing my early experiences with the gadget. I haven't updated it for the past couple of weeks (where has the time gone?), but it covers recipes and other experimental stuff I've made in the Intellichef.
After a fair amount of web trawling, I have found the names under which the machine is marketed in various countries; the various web sites also have links to recipes, some quite different to the UK ones. Here is my list of links to the different models (I think that Terra-Ferma has also found the Spanish one):

i bought an intelichef last year, and i threw out my slow cooker, and steamer, and hav'nt washed a pot or pan since. being a bloke i'm not very adventurous with it , i'm sick of the recipes out of the book, so i googled intelichef recipes, this was the last place i expected to find them, but top marks to all of you, i will be printing them all off later. just 2 things i dont like about it, 1 that stupid clip do'snt hold the spatula and spoon to the side of it properly, keeps falling off, and 2 , the rim of it that fills up with water and bits of food when you open it, i find this a pain to clean out, but apart from that, it makes perfect rice and pasta dishes, anyone know how to do popcorn in it?? i'll get rid of my popcorn maker if it will do that as well0
