Morphy Richards Intellichef Multi Cooker

I have had an Intellichef since 2009 and it's been great but started developing a problem where it just kept beeping when first plugged in (continuous beep) so today we made the move to this one for £41.99 from Costco

Having got it home the book doesn't show the ability to shallow fry, and the recipe book recommends frying onions etc in a frying pan. I think I'll try it on one of the other programs though and see how it goes. I always used to use different programs on the Intellichef without any problems. We'll see how it goes!
I did look at the Heston one from Sage but as the maximum time for slow cooking was 7-8 hours this isn't long enough for a working day to have it finish just as I get in from work. Also there was no delay timer and I didn't like the glass lid.0 -
I found what looks like a good replacement for the old style Intellichef, it looks identical to the new Intellichef but it has a timer.
I might buy this once I've returned my current not-so-great jamie oliver homecooker.

Just wondering if anyone has used the JML go chef? Am thinking of buying a multi-cooker as am thinking it might save some money but not heating up the oven for a small meal.0

I'm reopening this old thread with an update.
I have only just now been able to find a worthy replacement for my Intellichef (the original taller version with the timer, not the most recent one with the clear glass lid), which I'm still using all the time, but it's started to look a bit tattered....

This one is the latest model, and you can now set custom temperature/timer, and also deep fry (as well as make yogurt). http://www.amazon.co.uk/Redmond-M90E-MultiPRO-Multi-Cooker-Litre/dp/B00NHVSOES/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1443168636&sr=1-2&keywords=redmond+multicooker
It's cheaper to buy directly from the manufacturer, I think they ship from Austria. https://multicooker.com/uk/catalog/multicookers/
And you can also buy a stainless steel bowl, great for making soup and mash (as I can use my metal tools), as well as deep frying. Not cheap, it's sold out on the website, so the cheapest I found is on ebay, from a foreign seller.
ETA: forgot to say that the Redmond cookers have a steam basket that sits on top, so it's possible to steam a few veggies while cooking something else (and use the old one that sits at the bottom to steam larger quantities of veggies). Also the M90E has a bowl with handles, which I find will make a big difference.0
