Incidentally, my slow cooked beef curry was a success and is now in the freezer. It is impossible to buy a decent ready made curry sauce in France. Even the well know brands such as Pataks don't taste anything like the same brand in the UK so now I buy all the spices from a firm in Dorset and make my own from scratch. It means having a long list of ingredients but if anybody is interested I can post the recipes for that and chicken khorma. For any curry lovers I can guarantee they are tons better than the ready made stuff and worth the effort.
Yes, please, Jandot! I would be very grateful for your beef curry and chicken khorma recipes - as well as any others that were a success in the Intellichef.
I bought the Morphy Richards Intellichef for Mum at Christmas. She says the recipe book that was included is quite basic and limited.0 -
I spent about two hours last night with my fingers hovering over BUY IT NOW. I became obsessed with the Star Chef (seeing the immformercial on shopping channel) or the MR intellichef.
I managed not to buy it. I'm not sure I need it. I read through all the reviews and the problem is that most people rave about it - it's difficult to find anything negative.
I am a terror for kitchen gadgets. Is my life going to be easier with this gadget? Help!
I am also obsessed with the Star Chef - I bought two
:eek:Just seen the price!
I really had a bargain - shame it's gone up in price : £99 from JML.
If you buy a second identical item they give you a 20% discount.
I paid £134.98 for two ie £67.49 each, and I then qualified for free p&p. I agonized over buying a second - very glad I did now.
"Is my life going to be easier with this gadget?" - YES!
I can't speak for the Intellichef - perhaps both cookers are equally good - surely the Intellichef can't be even better than my . . :A Star?
I must admit that I was lusting after the Intellichef, until I was seduced by the JML price for its rival.
This is the first time I have not been disappointed by going for the cheaper option. I am sure that if I was buying today, I would be going for the Intellichef - and then I would never have met my dear friend in the kitchen.

He's quite dapper - easily pops away in the cupboard. He's clean, quiet and - so far - very reliable. On some programmes he likes to let off steam, so then he sits under the extraction vent. He is very forgiving - no matter how careless I am, he always turns out something tasty.
This thread looks really good - looking forward to finding time to read it.
Sorry if I'm duplicating, but my tip is to use silicone fairy cake cases for pretty poached eggs. (I think I can get seven in my steamer) Turn one inside out to grease the rest with butter - easy turn out, easy clean! I still need to tweak my timings - but at least I will never again have to peel a hard boiled egg.0 -
Thanks Sadbunny, I think it was a wee bit cheaper on Amazon.
I am going to be really MSE and save up for it and then see if I still want and need it. You have tempted me though.;)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

some of the reviews on Amazon talk about exploding machines...
I don't think you could do them with the Intellichef, and I suspect the StarChef is very similar. The Bake programme is not like a real oven.
But maybe someone has found a way?
Incidentally if someone knows where to find online a recipe book for the star chef I'd be interested, as it's probably very similar to Intellichef.0 -
Hello everyone,
I have been watching this thread with interest, as I am the proud owner of an Intellichef. i was fiddling around with a porridge recipe and it overflowed everywhere - including out of the condensation trap.
i cleaned the inside of the lid vigourously, and the whole condensation trap, lid and all popped out. - is this normal? does the whole thing pop out this easily or is it a fault?
thanks in anticipation

it comes out so that it can be cleaned, everything just pops back in place0 -
Thanks for your reply - seems logical now that you say it.
At the moment I am working on a site and am developing new recipes for the Intellichef and for great low-cost food. I am currently working with some recipes of cakes, rice, stews, soups, dips. I will post the link when I have the site structure a little more organised and readily searchable (should be sometime next week).0
