Connection to broadband (for the first time) on a BT line is £47, so this is cheaper for a new user.pricefighter wrote:Their is a £30 connection charge.
Same as any other 8Mb ADSL service.pricefighter wrote:Its not 8 mb .Its up to 8mb.
That's more than 90% of people will need. It's more than some ISPs who say "Unlimited" allow in their fair use terms.pricefighter wrote:Its not unlimited (Up to 40gb download a month)
So are other non-BTMax 8Mb services (e.g. bulldog)pricefighter wrote:Its only available to 70% of UK.
Lots of free security programs available.pricefighter wrote:Security protection is only free for first 90 days then its another £1.75p a month.
All bad things.pricefighter wrote:If you use Caller Display add £1.75 a month to the package making it £22.74 a month.

So there are some bad things, but they are not all bad.0 -

I was not suggesting they were .Just trying to help people make a balanced decision before they signed up for a 18 month contract. Which is a long time in the fast moving world of Telecom pricing.PF.0 -

balanced decision? - i dont think so
Its not 8 mb .Its up to 8mb. - we say its upto, as do everyone else.
Its only available to 70% of UK.(If your not in the coverage area it costs you £30.99 a month.) - its LLU, and i think you will be pushed to find an LLU supplier with a higher coverage percentage
Security protection is only free for first 90 days then its another £1.75p a month. - and? you dont have to have it and like someone else said, you can get plenty of free software
If you use Caller Display add £1.75 a month to the package making it £22.74 a month. - not if u complain
You cant use the likes 1899/18866/18185 with it. - yes you can, you only get restricted if you dont pay a bill, and then the bar goes on.0 -
TT charge £1.50 per month for Caller Display.raggit wrote:If you use Caller Display add £1.75 a month to the package making it £22.74 a month.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

What a pity the new new Talk Talk website is wrong then - it shows it to be £1.50 (please try clicking the link above and you'll see).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Raggit. As an employee of Talk Talk you obviously have a vested interest in promoting the product. My post was merely pointing out the downside of the product which is not unreasonable.Being rude as you have been in other threads,or casting doubts on the integrity of my post does not help your case.
TT barred Line Rental Customers access to suppliers like 18185 a few weeks ago, this has been well documented on this site, and other telecom sites. It has nowt to do with whether you pay your bill or not.Even though you confess you are not a user of the Talk Talk service, i would have thought you would known this.PF.0 -

ive worked here long enough to know that half the stuff that is said on this site is incorrect, everyone claims to know everything, but you clearly dont.
The IACB (indirect access call bar) to stop you using prefix accounts will only be added if a bill payment is missed, it then will not be removed. i have numerous accounts to hand in front of me, who have wlr and have had for some time now and none have IACB.
I have no interest in defending talktalk as i personally wouldnt use it, but thats not to say that i dont get wound up when people claim to know things, that clearly are incorrect0 -
