Hopefully on Monday you will describe things not as bad but as organisation weaknesses and areas for improvement ;) Since you already have a germ of a solution then they should definitely consider paying you more (or losing your position but keeping you on contract as a consultant :T)

But isn't the appraisal supposed to be to discuss how you have done rather than what the organisation has / has not done?

It is about how I have done, but there is a question on the form about "what aspects of your work have you found difficult?" and "how can your manger help the effectiveness of your performance?" so there is lots of scope for discussion there. Keeping me on as a consultant would be a fantastic outcome!

On a lighter note, I am struggling with the desire to buy a dress! I can't afford one, but I have a few parties to go to over Christmas, and I have had no new clothes apart from dull essentials for so long. What would be the cheapest way to achieve a glamorous and festive look? A frilly red cardigan to jazz up a black tshirt and skirt. Really I shouldn't even think about it. Advice welcome.

My first thought was also a cardigan of some description! Maybe a sequinned one from Primark? I'm sure you can get something to cheer you up very cheap. New Look also have bit and pieces like that, but I don't think it's as cheap as it used to be.

Glad you're feeling a bit more positive. Good luck with the appraisal.

Good morning DFW friends. Are you all waking up in a white winter wonderland too? The snow has saved me from myself - I had had the crazy idea of taking the DDs christmas shopping in Brighton today, and looking for a party dress in one of those trendy retro boutiques. But the snow is deep so instead I'm heading down to the trusty British Red Cross shop in my local fashion-free town. Hope to find a sparkly cardi or top.

Beanie, I had to google Waterfall cardi. I don't think I could manage one of those, the dangly bits would be forever getting into the washing up or worse.

    Happy Yuletide everyone.

Edited - how could I forgot to say??? The central heating has broken down. OH attempting to mend it with the help of youtube videos.

My boiler was down this morning too but thankfully have managed to ressurect it so the heat is now starting to filter through again. Plumbers must be having a field day this winter!!

Well luckily mine has been fine. I did move the remote control into my bedroom so I can change it in the morning without getting out of bed...
