Oh I found you! Have been wondering about lots of people I used to lurk wth, get advise etc. The year has been such a hectic one. I cannot believe that it was a year ago, that I moved from Oxford to Northamptonshire, and its already into the 6th month of being here in the cottage.
I have pages and pages of things to read up on now!!!:j
Hope everyone is alive and well, and I will start reading up on the back pages when I have settled after dinner. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Wow Mooloo! I have so often wondered how you were doing this past year, and the twins and the babies..... I will keep my yees open for your updates.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I have just paid £306.40 off my Egg card and cleared it. I was going to do that when I received my tax rebate, but the 0% period ended today so I've done it anyway, and hope the tax rebate will turn up before too long.
This brings the amount we have on credit cards to £16560.82, which is clearly far too much for a couple with no secure income. The next target card is OH's Santander card, currently with £3680 on it, which is at 0% til September 2010.
I rashly entered a race with Hypno to pay this off. It is obviously doomed from the start, as we have been just about managing to pay the minimums while she is the world's most amazing debt-payer. However I need something to focus my mind and while I don't expect to win maybe I will pay off more than I would otherwise. And I've decided to cheat and interpret the race as paying £3600 off any credit card. So far I've paid £488.40, or 13% of the £3600. That sounds better than I thought!
Meanwhile my freelance income is dwindling, so I need to make some real effort to get more work in, and to encourage OH to find some.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
You can [STRIKE]manipulate[/STRIKE] adapt the challenge any way you wish - as long as you pay off more than you might otherwise have done, the results will be valid
And I am currently paying off far less each month than ever before, so I think you are well placed to be in competition with meSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Will be around next week, I hope, Hectic today as twin2's son was taken into hospital in the middle of the night, being sick. Have been there this morning, till about an hour ago. Havecome home to rest. Eat,. feel more normal. Get the plans for the weekend looked at and see if I can rearrange some things. All the normal knock on effects of life.
I will hopefully settle a bit more next week.!
Twin1 has a new flat, with DGd1, she was 2last weekend. They are doing better then twin2, who is in a hostel with her new BF, and is expecting baby2 in new year!!.
Good luck with improving the working side of things, I am needing to sort mine out too. Now on ESA and thats less then 1/4 of last years income!.
Living in small cottage, with DS, now 16, who is at college. Wants to be a blacksmith.
Think thats asmall but conscise part of life.!
Oh and biggest of Mooloo is now single and in a flat near my parents. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well done on paying a card off..that's great news.
Can I join the challege?..is it £3600 off CCs0 -
Welcome to the challenge taxi. Hypno's next target is a card that had £3600 on it. I've got one with about £3700 so I said I'd race her. But then I bent the rules and am going for £3600 off cards in total - that way I can count the Egg card I just cleared and my minimum payments on another 3 cards
So I guess it's £3600 debt repayment however you want to do it!
I've just got my Virgin card statement so am off to make min payment on that, will update my sig in a mo!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I paid £30 off the Virgin card. The balance on that card was £7012 and the minimum payment was £29! How would you ever pay it off on minimum payments alone? It will be my next target when the Santander card (currently £3680) is paid off.
I've got a one-off proof-reading job to do this weekend for £100. We've got some stuff on ebay which looks as if it will sell, but that money will just go to shore up OH's current account. His not working is really becoming an issue for me. That's the biggest challenge we have to solve.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Thanks I will join then and add it to my sig today.
I also need to pay it across a number of cards as I'm overpaying as and when I can so will count the overpayments and minimums on the cards then but just the CCs and not loans or savings...is that ok?
Iwill start from today as I have paid £40 off a CC today.0 -
Welcome to the challenge, taxi! You are doing the same as me - all payments to CCs count for the challenge, but not loans, savings or anything else. And it seems that so far I am in the lead - amazing! :T Long may it last!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
