  • Well done Sea on the reduction. I do the same with Santanders overdraft but I am getting charged £20 this month for some reason. I didn't go over so I am at a loss as to why. I've e-mailed them so I will see what's what. If it is going up to £20 per month then I will be getting rid of it ASAP.

Glad to see such a good reduction on your debt.

Ref the debt I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but it is ok getting rid of the overdraft, but what if they decide to suddenly cut it. Then you don't have the safety net to pay the tax with it....

Thanks all. It is possible that they would decide to cut the overdraft. But then they could do that any time anyway, so better to have it unused in that case. But I've had that account since 2006 and the limit has never changed all that time.

I also have a Santander account and a few months ago we got an insert with our statement

Fees are now £1 per day:(

Thanks Eager Elephant. That seems to be the same arrangement I have - £1 per day capped at £10 per month. I've calculated that that works out equivalent to roughly 4% interest on my overdraft, so it's still lower than some of my other debts.

  • Mine used to be capped at £10 but not any more. Now need to pay £1 per business day so I am concentrating on it now and getting rid of it ASAP
