1st of April and my debt today is £17235.12.
That's a reduction of £1,086.02 from last month, I'm pretty pleased with that.
This month should be good too as I did a lot of freelance work in March so can write a nice big invoice. I still don't know exactly when this current assignment will finish, probably later this month. I've had one offer of some work that looks interesting which I need to follow up. And a few other possibilities and leads to follow up.
It's been a relief to have a few months of earning good money and debt hasn't been uppermost in my mind. I've paid for things like new shoes for DS, haircuts, glasses for DD and even trips away, including a weekend in Brussels myself, without any anxiety about where the money would come from. But nor have I been putting money aside for tax - I've calculated how much is due and have got a little saved up but need to focus on that next, as well as finding work.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Nice to see that you have made such inroads into your debt well done. I am wagging my finger at you though about the tax lol!

My contract, which was initially till the end of Feb and then till April 13 has now been extended til 6 June, which I'm really pleased about. Another two months of good money. It takes the immediate pressure off, but I need to put some time in in May to lining up the next job.
We're in frantic electioneering mode now, trying to get a third (and perhaps more) Green Councillor elected in our town. It's taking up all my spare time, which at least stops me worrying too much about anything else. I'm planning to take the children to visit my sister for a couple of days over Easter, which will be a nice break and go some way to salve my conscience about seeing so little of them these few weeks.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Good to see that things are all slotting into place a bit.

Happy Mayday! Today my debt total is £15,945.25. That's a reduction of £1,249.87 from 1 April :j
I've now paid off the several 'extra' debts I acquired over the past six months and am back down to just the long-term low-interest debt I've been battling all along.
I'll have another good paycheque from my freelance work this month, then a smaller one in June and a smaller one again in July and then it's finished. I need to look for more work of this kind. But meanwhile I've been offered some other bits and pieces, including a two-day-a-week job that's not well paid but will be steady income and best of all the work can be done at home as and when I can fit it in, including evenings and weekends. So it shouldn't get in the way of lucrative freelancing.
Once the election is out of the way this week I can spend some time on things like looking for work and doing my tax return. I have decided that rather than saving for tax, I will concentrate any 'extra' money on paying off my Santander overdraft. That has interest capped at £10/month so I tend to live up to the limit, if I pay if off it will still have the encouraging effect of reducing my debt total, and will mean that there's a cheap overdraft available to pay the tax bills when they come.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
