AS there are so many helpful people about, I am goign to ask for your advice on my clothing dilemma!
I have a business trip next week which means I have to look smart for four days. Big challenge. My questions are: can I wear black boots with a navy blue suit? Can I wear the same shirt twice? If I have to go out and socialise in the evening, can I wear my daytime suit or do I need something different? Do I need a handbag and if so, what kind?
If anyone wants to write me a shopping/packing list I will be very grateful! I have already been into town this morning intending to look at shoes and came back again, I hate shopping so much.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Yes you can wear black boots with a navy suit, but you wouldn't be able to wear navy boots with a black suit.....
Yes you need a handbag, and it should be the same colour as your boots/shoes. Size of bag is not important, but colour is. You can pick up a cheap one that looks expensive off the market or from Primark.
You can wear the same shirt twice - as long as you are clean and tidy, you can get away with duplicating outings.
Socialising in the evening - I would wear something else if possible, but if nothing else, change your shirt, drop the jacket, or accessorize with a scarf, brooch, big bangles and beads, or something else if possible.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. :rotfl:Hypno, thats downright impressive! Seaxwyn, memorise what she's written - I fully intend to2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I know, isn't it? Fully memorised I assure you! I do admire and envy people who are good at this dressing lark, I have never got the hang of it! Would you believe I don't even have a bag or any accessories, apart from one silver bangle that is so heavy it gives me a bruise every time I move my arm.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

It is nothing to do with being good at "dressing" and everything to do with the fact that I can only afford a "capsule" wardrobe, most of which is over 10 years old :o:cool:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh, and Primark is your friend - I wear a plain black suit which is my "classic" and then have 5 different coloured plain t-shirts in various colours that I wear underneath.....all costing about £1.50 each.
Plus, bags, bangles and beads, scarves, etc all at £1 or £2 each then dress it up or down.......all from Primark.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Glad that you've had a good holiday.
Sorry to hear that you got turned down for a 0% card....same happened here...I think companies are now looking at debt to earnings ratio..
As for your DH..I don't know the answer.
Loved Hypnos answer to your dressing question..that was fantastic.0 -
I too have a capsule wardrobe, but not such a useful or well-planned one as yours! Most of mine is hand-me-downs from a friend who spends a fortune on clothes but is smaller than me so everything is good labels but nothing ever fits well. This is topped up from charity shops or, in emergencies, M&S. There isn't a Primark anywhere near here. I think I have got enough to survive the 4-day conference without bringing shame on my employers. I wish I knew whether suits are required every day or if one can be a bit less formal.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
