I'm not so sure the full-time role is going to work out. I've been talking to the client and while they want me to be available to start really soon (ie give in my notice now), they can't absolutely guarantee the work. It feels risky - but more than that, I feel I would be letting my current employers down badly if I left in a rush. We are half-way through implementing some big projects that I initiated. And in the next month I have a week off for the election, then a couple of work trips away. So I don't have a lot of time to actually hand everything over.

I'm going to go back to them and see if the two-day-a-week role is still going, as a gradual exit from my current place might be better. And it would win me some time to see how much time is needed for the Council role, should I be elected.

Only nine days til the election.... I'm already embroiled in case work and being bombarded by phone calls and emails from residents who hope I'll take up their issues.

1st May update - just a quick one as I have to go out canvassing imminently. My debt today is £24,449.54.

That's a whole £765 reduction from last month - woo hoo! Higher than usual as this was the month I received Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit twice. However I think that is my last child tax credit payment, as they have been paying off arrears and I am no longer entitled to it.

Anyway, thats £2163 paid off this year, which feels good.

No developments on my possible new job. It is still not confirmed. I can't bear the thought of staying at my current job, which I now hate, so once the election is over if the new job hasn't come off, I will investigate alternatives.

Excellent news on the debt reduction! It must be very unsettling about the job situation. Almost getting a new job must have highlighted the feelings of dissatisfaction with the current one. Still, all is not lost yet.

All the very best for next week!
