Awww sorry to hear about your little niece Lemontree, hope she gets better soon! Fingers crossed we all avoid it!

Yes, no sympathy at all Flower08, he put some dead flowers in my office the other day and it gave me hayfever for about 3 days! :rotfl:

Have been a bit slack tonight, need to try and get myself going but I'm shattered, it was quite a long weekend. Just watching that debt collection programme on 4, can't believe the tactics some of these companies use! xxx

So, posting that I was slack motivated me to go upstairs and find some more items last night, so I managed to list another 5. Hopefully this will all pay off! :o

There is inevitably going to come to a point where I've got nothing left to ebay though, not sure what I will do at that stage for extra cash :rotfl:

I'm not feeling as positive today, we have a couple that we know (I wouldn't call them friends) who were together 3 months before they bought a house together (and his parents gave them £6k to "decorate the place"), then they got engaged a month after that and have planned the wedding for next February (six months before us) and are being given £8k from between the two parents for that, and I found out yesterday that they're now fitting a new kitchen and having the downstairs completely redecorated, and she is buying a new car?!

I am a trainee solicitor and she is a legal secretary, and my OH earns more than hers. Guess I'm just feeling a bit today like it kinda sucks that we have to work our asses off for everything we have and they just get it on a plate. We've been together years and can only just afford to get married, buying a house is yeeeeaaaarrrrssss off yet! :(

Still, I suppose at least we can say that our love has survived when there was no money and we were on the bread line (when we first got together he was living at home and unemployed) so things can only get better!

Sorry for having a down day, will try and pick myself up by later! :p x

And now I'm annoyed at myself because I bought a coffee and pastry on the way to work to cheer myself up!

I've just had another look and I started this diary on 13th, so 8 days ago, and so far I've paid of £87 off my debts!

That's not that bad going for a week is it? Its over £10 a day :T

Will do my best to forget about other people for now, and just concentrate on where we want to be (married and on a lovely honeymoon somewhere quiet and sunny!) :j

Right, positive head on, lets keep this up! :D x

You'll appreciate it so much more because you've worked for it! I get annoyed when other people around me are getting married and I refuse to book it until we are debt free etc, but I know when I get to where I want to be and will have paid for it all ourselves etc, it'll be all worthwhile. I'm going to keep telling myself that as I have to believe it too, and I do believe it but it's hard when money is tight sometimes.

Yukkibear, that makes perfect sense, I totally agree with you.

And I don't know, they could be getting into HUGE debt because they want everything right now, you never know other people's circumstances! I know so many people spending like money has gone out of fashion, and it is really hard not to get down about it. By the time of our wedding we won't have had a holiday for over 2.5 years, but c'est la vie, its what we have to do to get what we want without getting into debt for it.

I was having a read of this thread this morning: -

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=343625&page=18

So for a laugh I posted a half full bottle of perfume and an old magazine that I was going to recycle and both have already got bids on (within minutes)!

Think I may have to actually start thinking about whether to list before throwing things out! Apparently coupons go for quite a lot as well, but I'd be worried about them with the "not for resale" disclaimer.

Its amazing what will go on ebay! Will be a lot more generous with my searching from now on (if I think its headed for the bin just try it on there for a few days first!). :rotfl:

Finally got my expenses through as well (£58) so that will help with the last week before payday (it was getting a wee bit tight). That came out of my current account anyway, so I'll just stick it back in there.

I stuck my Nintendo DS on yesterday as well, it was a bit of a wrench as it was a present from OH, but he agreed it made sense, as he has one as well, and we never both play them at the same time, so I can use his if I want to. I'm hoping I'll get at least £30 for it, its in full working order and is pink (popular colour on ebay it seems!). :D

Hope you're all getting on alright as well xxx

I REALLY FEEL the same at times... i get down as im trying to clear my debt and then save for a deposit... and all my mates were basically given their deposit...

BUT you just brush yourself off and deal with the hand God dealt you... :A

Just remember though money doesn't make happiness!!! :j Such a cliche but soooo true and as i get older i realise more... My mum and dad dont have a penny and have always provided for us the best they could and we are a CLOSE family... my god wee ALL bicker like mad...but I look at my friends and other family members and they always want what my mum and dad have with us... yet my mum seems to think we wanted more money!

Sorry to babble on but my friends parents are all wealthy as is my mans and this is a topic that hits a nerve!!!

i can understand what you are feeling, i've seen it with friends of mine, but the one thing that gets me through is that i have achieved what i have off my own back. I've always had my parents support but i've got myself into debt, mostly via training and trying to keep a home on my own and i'm getting myself out. and we saved for our wedding to pay cash and had a wonderful day and life together

Thanks girls, you've all made me feel tons better knowing that I'm not the only one who sometimes feels like this. Its so stupid, but I can't help being a green-eyed monster when they're going on a £6k honeymoon as well...

Having said that, a friend of mine is just going through a messy divorce from a man she married for security rather than love (well she loved him but he cheated on her so many times, and she got married to him because he had money and they bought a house and a build a business together), so, as sorry as I feel for my friend, it does go to show that money isn't everything in a relationship, and those who we are jealous of at the beginning may not last. I know that money will never be something that will get between OH and I, because we've survived on the bread line before, so we can do it again if we had to.

And, you're right, it does feel great to know that when we get married we will have done it all ourselves, and feel so proud :T

So on that note, pleased to say I made another 35p this morning on freebie scratchcards, and also already had a bid on an old used clinique blusher that I put on yesterday :rotfl:

Got a bit of interest for my Nintendo DS as well, so hopefully I'll make a few pounds there. A few items are finishing tomorrow so will be nice to make another chunk before payday next week. :j

    Hope you're all ok! x
