Don't give up the diary, it's not pointless, as it'll help keep you focused. Now you know what you're tackling, you can head in the right direction. It's up up up from now on.
  • Thanks yukkibear, I am normally such a positive person, but just feeling it a bit today. I promise from tomorrow I'll have my head screwed on and ready to tackle this properly! x

Like men need an excuse to go to the pub!! When did you say you were getting married again? I hope it doesn't clash with the World Cup... :rotfl:

We'll all be football widows come next July!!

Anyway, don't give up - it's a good thing that you've had this LBM sooner rather than later - yukkibear's right though, the only way is up!

I feel a bit of a failure today, and that while I've been moving grains of sand on one side of the beach, I've been ignoring the tidal wave that has been coming to destroy the work I've done.

I totally empathise with you, it's a big mountain to climb, but will be much easier with OH on board. Believe me I know how you feel - a couple of months after my LBM I was made redundant and out of work for 6 months and I really felt like I'd been kicked when I was down, but I like your metaphor better :D

Ha ha, you're so right, men and pubs huh?! We're getting married on 20th August next year, although OH assures me that he will not let the football get in the way of assisting with wedding stuff - yeah, right! :rotfl:

I think it will be a lot easier with OH on board, and we can really start to face this problem as a team. I may even try and get him to come on here as well and post, it could help him to play his part.

You girls have cheered me up so much today, thank you so much! :T I feel like its not quite as bad as I thought this morning, and its all about the little steps! First up, getting sub-£17,000! :D

I will update my signature tomorrow after we've had "the chat" tonight xxx

  • So, we've cancelled sky sports yesterday, and will be cancelling ESPN (an extra £5 per month) on the 14th (can't until then). That will save us around £30 a month.

The plan is, to keep paying £200 per month towards the wedding, and we'll have paid it off early next year. We are currently paying £550 off our debts, and if we keep that up we'll be down to £12,000 by the time the wedding is over.

We can then throw all spare, including the £200 that was going towards the wedding, towards the debts. :j

If we earn no extra income, get no bonuses and no pay rises (which I hope is unlikely as I'm due to qualify next June and theoretically my salary should jump at least £8k) then our debt free date is December 2011. We both hope that with a lot of hard work we can bring this forward a bit!

I will do a joint SOA once we've had a chance to go over the budget this weekend. I suspect we are frittering a lot of money away though so we need to look a lot more carefully at our outgoings over the next few weeks.

Fingers crossed the only way is up, £0 down £17,600 to go! I suppose if I hadn't worked as hard as I have the past two months we'd be well over £18,000 so we've made a start already! x

Glad your feeling more positive today! December 2011 isnt actually that far away really so if you could be debt free by then that would be great for you!! And fingers crossed it will be even sooner!

WELL DONE on managing to cancel the skysports! I am impressed lol.

Thanks Flower08! Its only money after all and at least we have our health and are madly in love, so we'll get by. We worked out December 2011 is completely achievable, but we'd both like to aim for maybe middle of 2011 as a goal. Heads down and debt busting begins, ha ha!

It was so weird, I didn't even have to push him re sky sports, he cancelled it before I got home! Think he may have had his LBM when I totted up the figures on Wednesday night! :rotfl: x

Well done for getting back on the horse and posting your new LBM, Spykey! Aww, you're madly in love and debt-busting together - just like a fairytale...

Nah, seriously, sounds like you're both in the right mindset for getting on with it and cracking that debt. I'm hoping to be DF by my 30th (gulp) in November 2011, but hoping it will be before that too. Race ya? :D

Ha ha, you're on! First one to the debt free date wins a choccie bar! :rotfl:

Yes, it is a bit like a MSE fairytale, we'll get there together. But which fairytale? I vote for Beauty and the Beast, ha ha! (only kidding my love - if he were ever to read this! :rotfl:).

    Let the race begin! :D:jxxx
