I have been ut and bought the trifle ingredients. And some ground coffee for NN because she's done her back in. I shall take it round when Gordon's about this evening. I'm now going to make the sponge for the trifle

lol.. actually I vaguely recall someone else having a house which sounded about the same size as mine but with fewer bodies living in it!

That might have been me! 2 adults, three resident children and one part time one.

Blimus - Ours is long detached local stone cottage - was probably a barn a long time ago, was converted in 1890 to a house and a bakers, made into one house in the 1950's. Same people in from 1950s to three years ago, they were in their 80's and had sold most of the land over time. Started with seven acres, now has (I think) a quarter acre at the back. Lots of dry stone walls which are my pride and joy. The house is 30 metres long and five metres wide so lots of corridoors and halls - most rooms have a window to the front and the back. My kitchen has four windows as it is on the gable end. Shame it has no kitchen units though. It will have three receptions, two bathrooms, large kitchen/pantry, downstairs loo, study and five bedrooms (4 doubles and a large single) and still lots of corridoors full of bookcases. Ceilings are mostly low and beamed with a number of low doorways. Conservation area but not listed which is great. Our mortgage is quite frankly  as we both started again with nothing seven years ago after our divorces but it is worth it. It is currently a building site and as such is full of dust. It is beautiful from the outside, but mostly a wreck on the inside which is why no one else would take it on - 1950s kitchen units, green bathrooms, full re-wire etc. I struggle very much to balance the house, the garden, the animals, the children and working part time plus being self employed. Pictures on facebook cos I am a sad show off!

Dusty - For me when I am mostly at home it is up to an hour a day for dailies, and then another hour for the room of the day depending on the room - if it is MBR, LR or BR for example I mostly keep on top of them via the dailies so it is the in depth bit that takes time like windows or woodwork. If I am working a lot then it is the half hour that is needed to scrape by.

Lil me -congrats on the new house? Have you picked up your lovely car yet? (she says pea green with envy)

I have just taught DS1 how to fill the DW my way! He was very proud of himself. Just trying to convince them that the best start to my week off would be for us all to tidy out the playroom.

    HHC 3-3.30 anyone?

Hi all, haven't had time to catch up totally - you lot do like a natter! :p

Toots - I've done all 5 days so can i have my stars when you have a mo! Thank you. Hope you're well my love x

Off on holibobs tomorrow - really looking forward to not having to come to work for a whole 5 days! Been a bit crappy here since i gave my notice in, c'est la vie!

Saw the discussions re houses: We're in a 5 bed terrace split over 3 floors with stupidly high ceilings and doors what with my dad being 6ft 8 he wanted somewhere there wouldn't be a risk of cracking his head open when walking through doors. On the ground floor there's a large hallway, 2 lounges, a dining room and a kitchen/diner. 1st floor 3 bedrooms, the study (5th bedroom) and a fairly big shower room, 2nd floor is my parents room and bathroom which has pretty much the same floor space as the ground and 1st floors - it's enormous! Average sized front and back gardens for a London terrace i think. It seems awful big for the 4 of us and the pets - but when all 3 of my brothers were at home as well you could never seem to escape from people!

Lots of hugs, congratulations, happy birthdays and neccessary vibes as and where needed. x

Houses - mine's a three bed semi in a fairly unusual estate in that the house I am joined onto is laid out and set out very differently from mine - mine is joined on to one like this so if you look to the side you can see a front door that looks like mine and a little window that looks like DDs.
Three beds. Kitchen altered so I have a kitchen, dining room and lounge downstairs.
You can see the back of one like mine on this pic too actually...
This house is VERY near mine! But further up the hill...
and am immensely cheered up by the price actually!
Time wise - no more than one hour for level three for any list....

Talking of which I need FOUR STARS PLEASE TOOTS...
(not 'done' kids rooms though thye are hoovered and the beds are changed.)

I take a VERY KEEN interest in local house sales BTW and I usually know what's on sale and where - none exactly like mine at the moment.
This estate was built by council in 1963 and the houses mainly given to relocated staff from London who came up here to work in the Post Office Accountant's General's Dept. They were offered for sale to the residents then, prior to normal council house selling so almost all of them are private. I bought this from a former colleague and her husband. We are close to Linacre reservoirs and Holmebrook Valley Park.
(That's where the stream is I go and help clear out in Autumn)

I live in a tiny 2-up/2-down 1850's house with arched stone-mullion windows, low ceilings and beams and sloping ceiling upstairs; my son says its 'quirky'; every delivery person says 'I thought this was a church'

I love it here although storage is a challenge, I'm always looking for space-saving ideas, eg my kitchen 'bin' is a (caravan idea I think) plastic frame on back of the kitchen door that holds a bin bag. If anyone has other ideas I'd be glad to hear them ;)

I haven't done anything since I got back from godmother's and I think I'm going to have another cuppa and watch some tv for a while.... :o
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
