Be careful buying items which are liquid and in plastic or glass containers, they can break, and if the box also contains dry groceries you can end up with quite a mess. Think about the mix in the box of dry and liquid items. Also be careful if buying a mix of cleaning products and food, better to order separately

My tofu got packed with the low sodium salt...and stonking great tins of Kate & Sidney - result = one squished tofu and salt all over the box. Not amused angry.gif - especially as I'd planned on making Thai Tom Yam soup this weekend.

This 2nd delivery (ref 30302) wasn't packed as carefully & nicely as my last one!

I am waiting for an AP order to be delivered - I wanted lots but decided to only order cans because I felt a mixed order was LIKELY to be delivered with damaged contents.

I have found AP helpful in the past and have no complaints that haven't been sorted out to my satisfaction.

But AP have definitely missed out on some of my business and probably other peoples too, which seems a shame, because just a bit of sensible packing would probably solve many of the problems.

I received my first and last order from AP yesterday. Two jars of cheese sauce where smashed to bits inside the parcel and they went over everything! And a packet of crisps had burst and was spread around the box too. It was an awful mess and took me ages to clear it off the rest of the stuff, i wont be shopping with them again...especially after reading the problems that other posters have had with damaged goods. I expect to only be offered a refund for the 2 jars of cheese sauces. Very dissapointed and wouldnt recommend them :(

Had they been wrapped in bubble wrap? As that is a minimum I would expect.
I was pleased with today's order- the packer had put an extra empty box in to make sure the big box was full enough. It seems to be hit and miss again- I suggest when you email you add in the packers name if it is there. May be a rogue packer who has just started. That's the problem with expanding so quickly-I have had some problems in the past and I fully sympathise with you on the hassle of clearing up- I still can't touch that peanut curry sauce after clearing up a kilo bottle that spilled on the way here.Maybe they will suprise you and be more generous?

    Hi

My OH collected my parcel today and I am really pleased - both with the packing and the contents.

Only 1 item missing and I was refunded for this yesterday, without me having to chase.

My parcel was very well packed (especially considering it was collected) and all glass jars were individually wrapped in bubble wrap.

Now off to attempt to put the food away.

i put my first order in in months.....

it might be worth starting a thread on the AF forum.... rating the packers... as i am sure their forum is going to be monitored more than here...

give them a star rating out of 5 or whatever...lol.. a bit like ebay ratings...

this way i am sure this might get the packers to be a bit more carefull..

Just an update, I received this email this afternoon

    Hi Deborah,

I can confirm that we will be issuing a refund of the £10.50 delivery charge paid on your order in addition to the refund already issued for the damaged juice.

With regard to the exchange thet you have found on our forum, I hope that you can appreciate that this is slightly different in that the customer advised us in advance that the goods were damaged in transit and held by the courier so we were able to re-issue the whole order straight away, rather than wait for it to come back to us.

We would never advise customers to accept a damaged parcel due to the risk involved if the parcel contains damaged glass etc. In most cases DPD do not attempt to deliver them, the contact us and we try to resolve the problem before it escalates further.

Hopefully this goes some way towards restoring your confidence in us.

    Andrea

    £10.50 + £1.22 has been/will be refunded then.

The order was for £39+ including delivery.

Not sure quite how i feel about it to be honest.I am absolutely going to stick to dry goods form now on if i place any further orders with them.

There seems to be a new protocol on packing, and to be honest, I'm not sure it's working. I've received my second order this week (4 cheese sauce 6 for 99p was too good to miss). I had 4 of the smaller boxes inside one big box. The two bottom boxes had 2 packs of 6 jars in each, with another 2 packs in one of the top boxes. The other 'bits and bobs' were all in the 4th box, none of the 4 boxes were packed to the brim, either with product or packing, so obviously there is going to be some movement, and the more movement there is, the greater the risk of damage, despite use of bubble wrap.

Another gripe is the packing of heavy objects in these smaller boxes without sealing them properly - it's Ok to just fold the flaps over so they interlock if the box only contains light weight stuff, but to do it to a box containing 12 jars of cheese sauce means the jars can easily drop through the bottom when the box is lifted out to be emptied. Some of the boxes were taped shut, but if they are going to be taped shut, then it's better to fold over the short flaps and then the long ones, otherwise the tape doesn't have anything to stick to......

There is a thread like that on there but it got gruesome so I didn't do a link to it. I think it's ok to report a good parcel but might be iffy to name a packer on the web. More training, spot checks and supervision needed possibly.
I bet loads of us in this thread do mystery shopping too :D

O/T but I worked for years for Royal Mail ( customer services!) and my general advice on packing a parcel was "can you drop it from a height of six foot and know it'll survive because it won't be suitable otherwise" Too many conveyer belts and bumps in the road for less packing.

Katholicos - I'm wondering if that £10.50 refund they're offering is only what they will claim back themselves from DPD who they no doubt will be complaining to.
Doesn't seem very satisfactory and certainly they don't like admitting that their poor packaging is at fault, which it seems to be.

I think it's this lack of accepting responsibility for their own mistakes which is the most annoying.
My SIL said she was not too impressed with the way they handled the Jerky episode, where they gave people 25g bags instead of their 50g and still weren't admitting in her case that she had been entitled to the refund despite giving it back.
