    £170.00 for a car seat?!!!

Jeezo...depending on the size of your baby, they will be out of that and onto the second stage car seat by 6-9 months...unless you are planning on having a large brood (and can be sure they will all be the same sex!!!) that is a huge amount of money for a car seat.

The car seat base is worth it's weight in gold. I had a graco one for my first & second, & it totally simplifies getting them in and out. You know it's right every time, & no having to faff about with a seatbelt in the rain/wind/snow etc. One click & it's in...every time. Friends got an M&P one and it was rubbish. You still needed to mess around with the seatbelt at the back of the carseat.

Sadly I sold my car seat & base (and all other baby stuff) before we found out this one was arriving :o

The price on the OP's link is also only for the same pink flowery one, although the normal colours are a little cheaper than kiddicare.

Found them a few pound cheaper:

edit: don't think link works lol

Google Kiddisave and put 'isofix' into the search box
  • Yes, sorry about the price differance I purchesed the black carseat and at that time they were all £166.99 including base and I hadnt relised it had changed until after I had posted on here. My friend had just bought the same one as me for the cheeper £ as she emailed them and said that I had purchased one several weeks ago and got a cheaper £ to the one advertised online now!!!

I dont know sex of baby so I had to go for a unisex colour.

I would however keep an eye on the £ as I watched it for a while before I purchased and it changed several times so you may be able to get it cheaper.

Depends how you think of it.

This is my third child and for each one I have had a new carseat and a base this will be the 1st isofix one though. I think they are worth the money.

Thanks, find out tomorrow what colour my bump is, so if it's not pink will keep checking.

Can I ask why you bought a new seat & base for each child? I know you're not supposed to use a second hand one if you don't know it's history of accidents, but surely you'd know this if it's your own? Or are you making a travel system, and getting a new buggy too ;)

Fair play if you can afford to pay that amount for a car seat. Personally I just think £170.00 to 'make life easier' is a little steep and once you have faffed around a few times, getting the seatbelt correct is easy peasy. Good luck with all your bumps ladies :)
  • Im not realy sure why I buy a new one each time It just makes it feel abit safer!! I feel as if the carseat moulds slightly to baby so I prefere to have a new one.

Also the 1st carseat I had was nice and easy to use but then I signed up to which and they wernt that highly rated so I got a diferent one for second child. Second one was a mammas and pappas one and that was abit of a pain I bought the base but you still have to mess with the belt everytime you put the carseat in.

I am not planning on having another for a while after this one if atall so will probily sell it but I would be quict happy to use this one again if I was planning on having more kids soon. Although I may be inclined to get a new carseat and keep the base!!

This is the only item I am like this over, other thigs I have second hand or I dont have if I cant afford a new one and I cant realy explane why. But I am the same over cars I only get the 5 star ncap cars!

I hope this explanes it abit.

I'm thinking of getting one of these for second-born because it's compatible with my quinny zapp. I also like the idea of an isofix base because I think it's much safer than having to faff around getting seat-belt straps to fit.

My reason to buy a isofix base is to make it safer. The fact it'll be easier to use is just an added bonus. The which report says a maxi cosi car seat is only safer if used with a fix base. Also wd like to have 2 maybe 3 children which works out as over 2-3yrs of use. I have no problem justifying an extra £90 for the saftey of my baby. x
  • I definatly think the carseat is worth the money.

Like other people have said it is the safest on the market if its used with the isofix base and after all when you consider the damage that can be done if you have an accident in the car then then I definatly want to know that I got the safest option that I could afford.

I too like the 5 star Ncap cars aswell anything that can make the roads slightly safer gets my vote with all the nutters that are on the roads at the moment!!!

I also decided not to use the same carseat as last time, when I found out I was expecting again.

    I was just asking ;)

I'm the same with NCAP ratings - only 5 will do.
