From personal experience I would avoid the M&P Pilko Prammette travel system. The car seat was just awful and my babies head was always slopped forwards.

I went back to M&P to check it was fitted properly (x3!), it was, they sold me a head comforter thing to go in it but it hasnt helped. I am now looking at going up to the next stage car seat in the next couple of months and I can't wait to get rid of it!

The whole system cost me £350 and I really regret buying it! The only bonus I found was that it was a 'travel system' which does help a lot (ie clipping it straight into the buggy when out for short periods of time) but there are plenty of other systems that also do that.

    Good luck!

Oh yes, and I would absolutely second the 'buy one with a base', it seems such a small thing but we recently went abroad, taking our travel system (but not the base) and it was a real hassle getting baby in and out of the car all the time without it, it also has hurt my back a great deal and I am now on the waiting list to see the physio!

    Hiya x

Which? did some safety tests and the maxi cosi with the isofix base came out gold standard for car seats (you can join which for a free months trial to see the reviews). Thats probably why you seem to see them everywhere.
The seat and base will set you back about £200 but one good thing is the maxi cosi car seat will fit in most chassis'. Which is great as you can transport a baby that has been sent too sleep by the motion of the car into a buggy chassis and SHOPPING here we come!

I went for the Mutsy 4 rider light and love it. But it is big and I hardly ever used the carrycot bit of it as my baby was massive and outgrew it very quickly.

Feel free to PM me as I spent the first few months of my pregnancy glued to the sofa due to sickness so meant lots and lots of buggy / carseat research!

We have a 05 ford fiesta and the isofix base doesn't fit. (I'm so disappointed!:o ) We have to go for an easy base which is not as good saftey wise. Check on maxicosi website which cars are compatible also double check in the shop. xx
  • I am currently expecting my 3rd baby and am buyin all new again as I got rid of everything!

I have looked at a few comparison websites and at which and it seems to be that maxi cosi car seat is one of the best you can get.
There r 2 different bases you can get a isofix one and a non isofix I bought the isofix base from http://www.baby-pages.co.uk/acatalog/Cabriofix-Easyfix.html for £166.99 where as its over £200 everywhere else. They also sell non isofix base and carseat which is cheeper than this.

Britax is also ment to be good but I have had bad experiances with these previously and I particaly wanted isofix base and britax ones are alot more money.

You can use either of these carseats as part of a travel system but personily i wouldnt recommend it as I dont like the idear of a baby being in a carseat all the time I would rather they were flat in a pushchair (but this is just my choice/opionion)
I would reccommend getting a maclaren pushchair as they arnt that expensive, they fold up small (still have plenty of space in boot of car, where as most travel system pushchairs are rather large when folded) and r very light (easy to lift on your own with baby in it) and in my experiance most people swap to a maclaren (or similar) pushchair within a year of baby being born.
If you get one make sure its from birth as some of the maclarens arnt from birth and so the seat doesnt lie flat (even though most babies have it propped up abit due to wind etc)

However all this is what I find easier but everyone is different.

Oh one other point with the travel system is that the baby only stays in the newborn carseat until 9 months old which means that once the baby has outgrown the carseat you can only use the pushchair on its own so is it worth the extra cost?

    Hope this helps

Thanks! That is a good price for both.
I just need to wait to see if it's a pink or blue bump before ordering (hopefully) the pink flowery one :D

edit....what exactly arrived for you. It says it's an easyfix base, but later on in the text says it's an easybase. Is the base isofix or not?

its £152 for the easy base (non isofix)

in the end got a cheaper one (Hauck Infinity - under £100) which I find is excellent. It can be front and rear facing, which I found ideal.

Cheers, I'll have a look at the size of this one and see if it will go into my boot :D

Oh oh, just had a look and one review said it was big when folded and filled the whole boot of an Astra and basically any car has a boot bigger than mine,so looks like the loola up is still the one. Cheers anyway

I have a Loola, and it is a great pushchair. However, from my experience, a newborn baby doesnt seem that comfortable in it, as the seat doesnt lie completely flat. I took it back to Mothercare, and they had a good look at it before informing me that really the carrycot should be attached for a newborn. By this time my little one was approx 10 weeks, so i decided against the extra expense of the carrycot just for a few weeks, so it is possible to manage without, but just thought i would mention it!
Cheers for that, good to know- I think the grandparents will be probably be buying part if not all of the pushchair (I hope!) so might get the cot too- wil probably get off ebay shop anyway. Also intend to get the foot muff/cosytoes thingy too to pad it out a bit!
