I had a similar issue with the Britax fit finder - all it would say is that it could be put in my car (a Peugeot 206), but that there were some issues with it. Like you, I didn't want to part with my hard-earned until I knew it was going to fit. I did email Britax, but they weren't as helpful as they could have been, just reiterated what their website said.

Have you thought about popping along to Mothercare as many (if not all) of their stores have trained car seat fitters. We found them very useful, and ended up with a slightly different Britax car seat than the one we originally wanted. They check everything about the installation before they sign it over to you.

I guess, but don't know for sure, that Halfords might offer a similar service.

No idea if it'll fit your cr, although it did fit our Citroen Picasso. Best bet is to go to Halfords/Mothercare and get them to try it out.

We had the seat though and it was fab, very comfy and secure.
    Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....

    Hello Everyone.

My wife and I have our first baby on the way and we have hit a snag in finding an appropriate car seat for a 51 (01) reg Nissan Almera S 3 Door.

I just can not find a definitive answer. Some sites say we should have isofix points. I am not convinced as I can not find them (I am prepared to search for a third time though).

Other sites say they are bad to find seats for. There must be someone out there who has had a baby seat in an almera and I would rather hear from their experience rather calling up a company and being told "If you buy our product it 'should' fit".

We were looking for a baby carrier seat and then a 0-4years seat, but at this point I will take anything.

If anyone knows what fits, then I would be really grateful to know. Any help much appreciated.

(I had more hair and it wasn't so grey before I started this!!)

    Thanks

On newer cars, if seats have ISOFIX, there is a label sewn into the seat cover, & it's very visible.

Not sure about older cars though....have you checked your manual?

I second the idea of going to a large mothercare 'world'. They usually have a couple of extra large reserved spaces right by the front entrance, so that a staff member can try all the car seats you are interested in.

You can also try the Britax website, which lists which Britax car seats fit which car. http://www.britax.co.uk/index.php?Itemid=62&home=1&option=com_fitfinder

Also, have a look at these two threads...you say you have a 3 door car...

When you are at mothercare, once they have found a car seat or two that fits, try putting a shopping bag weighing 5kg or so in, & then you try to fit & secure the car seat. Repeat.

You may find it easier to change your car before you buy a seat. :o

Many thanks for the replies. I will check out those links.

I think it is going to be a case of taking the car down to Mothercare and others to see what fits.

    Hi,

ISOFIX was not standard in US cars until 2002 - and I think it was later here, so it is doubtful you will have them. In fact my partner's car which is an 03 plate doesn't have them.

If in doubt, the car seats without a base should fit into any car - but these are more fiddly to take in and out and if you want one which fits with a travel system they are not the right kind.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

    Hi,
we have spent quite some time looking at car seats. Our 54 reg Ford Focus doesn't have IsoFix which we were very surprised about!
In the end we have settled with the maxi-coxi cabriofix seat and their easy fix base see here.
There is also a really good video here on how it works.
    I would highly recommend it

Why not try www.almeraownersclub.com they will be able to give you the most definitive answer
Our primera has isofix i do believe and thats 01, so it might be around the same time for almeras.
