  • Most car seats stay strapped in, surely? Even my daugther's booster seat has a strap that attaches it to the main seat

They are only strapped in if you plug in the seatbelt everytime, most seats dont have extra straps to attch to the car.

Yes, if you're using an adult seatbelt to secure the child (not the seat) you will be undoing it every time they get out - so to keep the seat from becoming a possible hazard, you should get the child used to clipping the seatbelt back in as he/she gets out of the car.

    Just a quick tip,

If you are about to buy your dd a new booster seat don't let them see you on the mothercare website. They will want the pink chavy one that says something about princesses on it :rotfl: . Before you ask she won't be getting it I have something much more tasteful in mind although I may allow pink for the seat in grandmas car ;).

  • just a quick one, not about which seat but where to put it. The safest place for a carseat is in the rear passenger side. Apparently statistically thats the place least likely to have serious damage in an accident.

The middle of the backseat is the safest as you have alot of room either side if you have a side impact crash ;)

Dont go for looks go fo safety first , some very poor seats about
  • Couldn't agree more. My local Ford dealership had a system in place that meant we could take the car seat and get it checked to see if we had fitted it correctly.

Don't worry we will be definaely going for safety, car seats are the thing that dont get compramised on in this house. It is two trips to Mothercare for me today to see if the Britax Evolva fits in my car and MIL car as well.
