We were given the same seat as you by my aunt with no instructions and these worked!

Thanks so much. All sorted now!
  • Hi
I'm looking at getting the next step up in car seat for my 6 month DD whist a few of the shops are having a sale but i am stuck on what to buy. I've noticed there are 2 types, 1 for 9months to 4yrs and one group for 9months to 11yrs. Am I best to buy the 9months to 11yrs so im only buying 1 car seat or are car seats that only last till the child is 4 better?
    Thanks
    Melissa
  • We've bought 9mths-11years for our children. It worked out a lot cheaper in the long run. Basically, you have a proper seat back and harness, which can be removed to leave a booster seat.
  • The last couple of reports from Which do not recommend the 9months - 11 years seats.
    The IVF worked;DS born 2006.

I printed off alist of rec car seat from aged 9 months and my daughters ripped it up and destroyed some of it I wondered if anyone could help me fill in the gaps - my membership has run out now.

I know the maxi cosi priorifix came top for isofix - but which was the best without isofix my list seems to indicate mamas and papas pro tec - but I have a feeling this isn't right and my list is now missing the rating for this seat.

    thanks

Which say We recommend you avoid the the Chicco Max-3S, the Recaro Start and the Little Shield Combi 123 as they all use the adult seat belt for a 9kg child (around nine months).
The adult belt comes into contact with the child's neck instead of the shoulder, and can pass over the soft stomach area of a 9kg child instead of the correct pelvic bone area.

The Britax explora 123 scored 58%
Pros: Covers several age groups, good comfort and ease of use.
Cons: Front crash performance not as good as the best in its class. Seat cover must be hand-washed.
In terms of safety over price you would be better to get separate group 1 and 2/3 seats as you can get both with a 77% score

I think comfort plays an important part, i found the Maxi Cosi wasnt very padded for baby, i bought the Britax Explora Ultra Isofix as its extremely padded and alot more comfortable.

No. All car seats have to conform to a set of standards. However, they are not tested in every car, which is why they must be fitted by someone who is trained to do so. Isofix makes the fitting easier and safer. But at this stage, the seat isn't held in place by the belt, so that isn't an issue.

Another thing to consider is that when your kids are not in the car you are meant to put the seatbelt on to stop the seat becoming a dangerous projectile in an accident that could kill someone, Isofix takes away this problem , it also keeps the seat in place when your kids get in/out the seat every time
