    Hi

DD is now ready to go into a Highback booster seat. What I'm trying to find out is if the Isofix models are worth the extra money? DD weighs 17kg so I've no worrys about her being in the weight range, I had hoped to keep her in the 5 point harness until she was 18kg but she has other ideas. Any recommendations would be appriciated so I have some idea what to get tested in the car I drive an Mk1 Octavia VRS

    Thanks Joannasmum

I have just ordered my just-turned-4 year old the britax evolva isofix for £109 at halfords (and got pigsback points) as I think it is worth the extra, it looks to be more secure and also makes this one reclineable, and he likes to be tipped back if he is tired. The britax site had a fit finder and my grande punto looks to be ok with it, but I will be taking it to halfords to get it fitted.

I have to say, i work in a public area, and Ive notice people come in to get a coffee or loo break etc, that when they a one of those car seat,
as they walk the baby swings from side to side, the larger the parent the more this happens.
also they go up to the counter and put it on the floor near to peoples feet, and are in danger of things dropping on them it make me cringe.

or the baby wakes up so now they are carrying both the seat and the baby,

i don't know why they don't put this on the wheels much better for both baby and parent

it really annoys me when i see people out shopping with the car seat part of the travel system attached to the pram.
we had a gracco travel system and the car seat stayed in the car and we used the pram part when out and about. it folded flat and gave really good support as it had a solid back. we have now swapped it for a maclaren xlr buggy ,as my mil had trouble lifting the pram in and out of her car as she has carpel tunnel. but the back support isn't as good and the rain cover only fits over the front whereas the travel system one went over the whole pram including the hood.
it is a lovely pram but i wouldn't use it for a new born even though it says it can be used from birth. my dd is 14 months and we only swapped over 2 months ago when my mil arm got bad again.

as the maclaren techno keeps getting good reviews, i thought i would point out that the Techno XLR is designed to take a car seat. this means you have both options available to you at all times, when out and about. i mainly used the pushchair in the flat position, but on the odd occassion babe had fallen asleep in their car seat, i had the option to keep them in their carseat, and not wake them, and just clip it onto the pushchair. only downside with the pushchair, is that when the seat is in the flat position, you cant access the basket under the pushchair, so remember not to keep the rain cover under the pushchair.

  • I've got the Britax Evolva 2 3 Isofix which I got mailorder from Glasgow Pram Centre (sorry, no idea about cashback sites and things) and I'd highly recommend it.

The sheer difference in stability of an Isofix seat compared to one held in place by a seatbelt is incedible. With the Isofix seat located in, you know its fitted right, you know its secure..

Definately worth the extra money for Isofix
