They are available on line plus £4.95 p&p. Pink trim does not appeal though.

don't be put off by the colour - the trim's red! here's the link for anyone who's interested:

On the Halfords website it says don`t convert to a boaster, so is it money saving. When can they just sit on the bottom bit?
    April Grocery challange £175

    week 2 £62.64, TOTAL £92.54

the seat stays as a full seat for kids right up to the age of 11 - i.e. it never converts to a booster cushion, it's always used as a full seat with the back. have a look at the britax website for more info - you can download the userguide there, so it would show you exactly how the seat works.

Like some of the above posters, I did a lot of research before buying my cars seats. I have a Concorde Lift and a Britax Kid. TBH I didn't like the Hi-Liner - seemed very flimsy, especially compared to the Kid and I also thought it a waste of money if it didn't convert to a booster.

I think that once your child has grown out of the backrest of the seat ie you can't lift the headrest anymore - then they are big enough for just the booster. I think that will be sometime around their 7th or 8th birthday, but will obviously depend on the individual child. Or maybe I just have very tall children :D

I also have 2 booster cushions, one of which is in another mum's car as she currently does the morning school run. She doesn't put her own children on boosters, but I make sure my son is on one.

Our local Woolworths had HI-Liners for £34.99 today.

We've recently bought dd the Hi-Liner after reading the poor safety report on her previous seat - a Britax Cruiser Plus. The Hi-Liner is a great seat although it would be a bit of a pain to move around frequently (if you have to swap cars on a daily basis etc) because it's quite tricky to get the seatbelt out of the guiding loop.

Personally, I'm very happy to see the new regulations. My sister's children have the lap part over their lap but the diagonal bit behind their back to stop it cutting their necks, and as if that isn't mad enough, my sister bought a new car because she felt it would be safer than her previous one!!! Grrrr, what is wrong with people?

    Oops, sorry, rant over!

Maybe I'm the only one who hadn't woken up to this new legislation - effective as from September this year - regarding children and car seats. However, I thought I'd post the link to a page which gives details, for those of us who travel with children. Gives us a chance to buy a booster seat before they all go and skyrocket in price!

I wouldn't have known about it, had it not been for hubby's Mum hearing about it and then ringing to ask whether DS used one, as they're taking him and his cousin on holiday to the Isle of Wight for a week.

Forewarned is fore-armed, and all that. :)

What shocks me is that it is not until 2009 that you have to have the same number of restraints as passengers...I am constantly seeing the family over the road carrying their two little ones (aged 1 and 5) on laps, or on the front seat unrestrained. Drives me crazy. If you don't wear a seatbelt yourself, well, the injury is to you, but not to belt your children up ... GRRRRRR

My daughter is 6 months now and it wont be long until I need a group 1 car seat. Can anyone recommend any to me? I dont have a which log in so wondered if someone who does might be able to tell me what they say is the best group 1 seat. Be nice to get one that would do group 2 and 3 aswell so it lasts longer but all I want is the safest seat really. All advice appreciated

Hi found these as best buys on which:

The Maxi Cosi Priorifix, is widely available for £220. Its Isofix mode performance is first rate, but it uses a support leg, so not suitable for use in cars with a false floor. Using belts, performance is acceptable, but not up to the standards achieved with the Isofix fixings.

The Maxi Cosi Tobi, is available from Toys R Us, for £165. It is non-Isofix and its harness design is particularly good - it 'springs' out of the way to let your child in, so you don't get tangled up when trying to do up the harness

The Britax Duo Plus Isofix, is widely available for £190. It’s no longer the best seat in this weight category, but when used in Isofix mode it still makes the grade. Its performance is acceptable when fitted using belts, but not up to Best Buy standards

For the next stage up your baby needs to be sitting up fully without support which is why they say from 9 months, i was eager to get my son in the next stage but was advised by the fitter at halfords he had to be sitting up and to meet the weight for the car seats.

If the baby is in an accident and can not support itsself ie neck then this can cause severe injury to the head and neck.

We waited til he was 9 months and this was fine.

    Hope this helps.
    Kyle
