re-wiring whole house - how much ??
Comments

I have found some example wiring prices at Electrical Prices they are for the UK as a whole so I would expect that Fife is cheaper than these by 10-20% at least. Dont forget to ensure you get a full inspection certificate after the wiring is completed.0

Mentioned it would be half the cost for me and my apprentice to go down and do first fix, then do second fix a few weeks later and she would still be half the price
Did a rewire last week (2 bed semi WITH concrete downstairs floors and alarm) for less than £2500 all in. A lot of raggling and a lot of dust
Including shower outside security lights side and rear.
I wish you were in the Colchester area. I have just been quoted £4,800. We are having building work so no carpets or furniture to move, no plastering after.2 bedroomed. Big house though and garden also.

. The company isn't listed by NICEIC or NAPIT either but that doesn't mean the company isn't a one man band and its his own personal registration thats used. In that case the company name wouldn't show up.

Can anyone please advise how often a house should be rewired? I am not aware of any specific problems but am aware house was built 1975 and has almost certainly never been done.
Also how much (Aberdeen area) I would expect for 3 bedroom terraced house and just how much mess etc? (kids rooms are very small and unsure how much furniture would need to be moved etc.)
Last question - how long does a rewire normally take as would need to organise time off etc
Thanks

The going rate would be in the region of £1900-£2300 depending on ease of access / finish etc.
It takes around a week and makes quite a mess. Best not to decorate meantime
You should use a competent person for the work, links below

hi katyk
a house rewire should ideally be done every 30years or so, but, always get an inspection report before hand as the cables may still be sound
a 3bed rewire would take upto a week, depending on furniture etc0
