Last night I got some Red Pesto & Filo pastry from sainsburys for 5p each. Any suffestions how I can combine the two into something yummy or just general suggestions for quick and easy ideas.

    Thanks

You could layer the pastry and pesto into a moulds (fairy cake tin?) and then fill the hole with the left over pesto mixed with black olives and crumbled feta (essential larder ingredients!) add some tuna or anything else that takes your fancy.

Cut the filo sheets to about twice the dia of the mould (but still square), brush a thin layer of the pesto over each sheet, add to the mould to create a flower type look, and then add a teaspoon or two of the mix.

Bake hot and quick - just a few mins until the pastry is golden - allow to cool or eat hot with some nice spicy salad leaves (rocket, watercress etc DRESSED in olive oil and balsamic)

    Mmmmmm!

I've made a feta and pesto pie and reserved some pastry for cheese straws so thanks to you both.

I'm going to have the pie in about ten mins with salad Yum!
  • I bought a jar of pesto, but not sure what to do with it.

Only things I can think of is to add some to cooked pasta (but sounds a bit boring - what else can I put with it?), and maybe putting some on chicken breasts before roasting.

Can someone help me with some ideas please? Thanks.

You can add pesto to risotto.

We had chicken breasts wrapped in parma ham and stuffed with pesto and cream cheese for dinner the other night. Yum!

    Hi There,

I like stuffing a pitta with chicken and salad, and mix some pesto with natural yogurt and pour it over. Delish!

I like mixing some with some creme fraiche to make a dip/spread. This is then lovely with, say a ham and tomato sandwich (instead of butter)
