If I had to walk 10 miles to work I'd need to get started before I went to bed!!! Can you take a sleeping bag? Joking aside, if you did get the 7:00 bus what time would you get there?

I am writing to the OR now to mention it all, it may get delayes due to the postal strike, will this matter?
You could always email the OR if you're worried about the postal strike and in any event you have 21 days to notify them. I'd leave it closer to the 21 day time limit if it was me. If you do post something be sure to get a receipt of posting in case it gets 'lost'. 2 separate things I sent to my OR he said he never received and luckily I did have receipt of posting.

Well according to google maps will take me 3 hours to walk it. So would need to set off at 3.45am

Bus would get me there at 7.20 but shift starts at 6.45am so that is no good sadly.

Good idea, will email and post at the same time. Just to make sure

FANTASTIC NEWS well done you. I am so happy for you. This is the start of things looking up for you. Someone mentioned the bike thing not sure what it is as I don't think we have it in Scotland also you may be able to car share with someone and chip in for the petrol. Good luck and let us know how your first day went.

Thank you everyone. ( double thanks to Somerset!)

I started today, it went ok, people seem decent and job ok. Now, there is always a downside with me, today I had to fill in a government security clearance sheet. Asked about BR of course :/ I filled in 100% honestly, but am now a little worried I will lose this job too. I did tell the Agency before hand I was BR. Anyway even if I lose the job I will get a couple of weeks work out of it which is great. Also found out today it's monthly pay, so this month is going to be VERY tight money wise!

Anyway to end on a postive, my faith in human kindness was restored today, and despite the fact I am exhausted after all that walking, I am feeling good
