My first venture into selling books on Amazon..and...disaster!
Only sold a cheap book ( 1.80), but amazon have underpriced the postage. They quoted 2.75, but i had to pay 3.85!..which means i made a net loss. Oh dear!

There seem to be mixed results with greenmetropolis. I have never sold anything though them, and others have said the same. Yet for some people they can move huge amounts.

Well..i've asked Amazon about their postage pricing policy..
they replied immediately, to tell me that they set a sort of tiered flat rate..so there are winners and losers as far a postage is concerned.
They suggested that i bump up my selling price to cover possible losses!0 -

Amazon only ever charge £2.75 postage and pass on an allowance of this to the seller. You have to factor this in to the amount you charge for your book.0 -
Never heard of greenmteropolis, I'll do a google. Thanks for the tip0

Hi everyone,
Just wanted some advice; I recently sold "Lost series 1" brand new and shrinkwrapped region 3 from asia on amazon. This is what my listing said:
"BRAND NEW & SHRINK WRAPPED - UK SELLER - IMMEDIATE DISPATCH - PLEASE NOTE: This DVD box set was bought from asia and is region 3. The box is the original factory release, exactly the same as on amazon except for 2 small chinese symbols under the title, it is all in english and plays in english, perfect!"
I sold it the very same day I listed it, I have sold this twice on amazon and last time I had no problems, this time I received an email from the lady saying that she would like a refund because it is region 3 and I never stated region 3 in my listing therefore she wants a refund.
Basically I said that I did state clearly that is was region 3 and I sent her a link to my closed listing so that she could see what I wrote. I apologised for the inconvenience and said that it was not my fault that she didn't read my listing properly, I said that I never set out to mislead anyone and that instead of a refund I would like to attempt to get her a dvd hack off the net for her dvd player to make it region 0 so that she can play it.
Obviously I am sure there will be personal opinions about asian dvds and hacking dvd players etc. but I have sold asian dvds on amazon without problems so far and I always offer them cheaper than the uk price so they really do get a good deal.
Have I done the right thing or do you think I should give her a full refund? She might come back to me and ask for the hack and if I get her one she might be ok about not having a refund, but if she has moral objections to that or I can't find her one I am going to have to make a decision between bad feedback and refunding the money.
Thanks

I would also add to what purple patch said in that you don't even get the full postage rate paid to you as the seller, as they take VAT or a charge or something from it .

Personally Kat I wouldn't have offered to find her the hack (if even for the damage a hack could cause her player), and I wouldn't have refunded either. It clearly stated it, buyer beware. Or more appropriately, buyer read what you are buying........
Hope you get it resolved amicably0 -
I had a similar problem where a book I sold came up as hard back on Amazon when I had a softback version - which I listed at £4 cheaper than the next price hardback. I clearly listed in my sellers comments that this was a softback, yet after I sold it the buyer left feedback which suggested I had not sold what was stated i.e hardback.
She was very happy with her purchase although it wasn't what she had been expecting and never asked for a refund, but it goes to show that buyers do not always read what they are buying.
Incidently, postage on my softback was £4.98 so I dread to think how much it would have cost to send a hardback edition.
Regards
