Thanks for your help, crisis averted.

p.s I am now pro-merchant!
Yes, that's the pro merchant thing to get those annoying sale has ended emails that often make you panic that you've got a pending when it takes ages for the SDN email to follow on.
Good luck with pro merchant. I'm cancelling mine this month!! Took mine out when it was on 3 months half price offer when I was easily selling enough to make it worthwhile to pay full price. Now it actually is full price, my sales have plummeted and I'm selling b*gger all despite having 150 items listed. My items are all listed at or around lowest price. Can't understand what's going on. Perhaps it's the curse of the pro-merchant half price special offer!!0 -
May I congratulate the Royal Mail for once again losing a well wrapped and addressed package (book) - complete with my address as sender on the back.
How do they manage to lose things completely - they never ever seem to turn up anywhere at all?
Also why is it only more expensive items (books) that go AWOL and not 1p ones!!!
Grrrrr- I'm a bit wound up this morning, sorry. It's just I've now got all the hastle of making a claim to the Royal Mail and wating to see if they will decide to refund me. Fortunately the customer is being very nice about it, but as she says, she wants the book not a refund, and also she is willing to wait a little longer to see if it arrives! That is great because I can't make a claim until 14 working days have elapsed (14!!!!),
Still it's only been a week since the book was posted so I suppose there is a vague posibility of it turning up - I must confess that I am not hopeful.
I suppose I should have sent it recorded delivery as the book sold for £6 but from what Soolin has said previously Recorded stuff seems to go AWOL more often that ordinary post. I did think about it but then the extra 68p would have cut into my profit by quite a bit. If a book goes for £10 I do tend to send Recorded and I did sell one once for £20 and decided to send it Special Delivery as it was in brilliant condition. The more you spend on postage of course the less you actually make in profit though. It is a dilema which only really comes to mind when something actually goes astray.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0 -
numberthree losing stuff is infuriating, I get so wound up when it happens to me.
Regardless of whether you had used recorded or regular mail you are still covered up to £32 of loss, so it should make no difference and of course saves you 68p per book.
A Royal Mail claim can only be started after 15 working days, so with Easter in the way (Ie no working days ) you are way off the time for a claim, which just adds to the feeling of anger!

Thanks Soo,
I know most on here will have had at least one thing 'disappear' into the blackhole that is the Royal Mail!
I know I will have to wait ages to make a claim (15 days now - must admit I thought it was 14, perhaps they put that up along with the postal charges!) - here is hoping that it will actually turn up - the lady says that she is waiting on 3 other books so maybe her sorting office is being rather slow and there is a small pile of packets sitting in a corner somewhere!
I know I can claim so I shouldn't end up out of pocket but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth with the realisation that you haven't provided the service which you'd like to.
Ho hum - such is life
Now all I need is for someone to bite on all my ebay listings - I have been trying to move some of my hardbacks - with absolutely no sucess at all. I dediced that I really need to sell them before this PIP comes in in August as I don't think it will be viable for me to sell them then due to the postal costs!
I have one buyer though - only 38 more needed!!!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0 -
numberthree - you have my sympathy, but have you asked your nice buyer to check at her sorting office? they don't always leave a card and there is just the possiblity that it's there waiting for her.0

Thanks AT,
It just crossed my mind to do that just before you wrote.
She's off on holiday for a week now (would have liked the book before she went of course), so I will wait until she returns and lets me know whether or not it has arrived. The address it was posted to is her works office so some one will be there to collect it if it turns up.
As she is waiting for 3 others to turn up I suspect the sorting office may have them in a corner somewhere and I'll ask her to check if it hasn't turned up next week.
Just been to the PO to send out another book (hooray) and collect a 'lost' form just in case!
Thanks for all the support - it really helps knowing that you're not alone!!
