shonky - welcome to the club :hello: sorry your first post here was because of a snag - I agree with everyone else that I'd rather take a chance with the possiblility of getting a neg than hand back the money, and it was such a lot of money too. From the tone of the email it sounds like they were just chancing it with hope rather than expectation (you might want to edit out his name tho!)
Yvonne - great sale, thank you for adding it to the list of good sellers!0 -
Hmmmm. Just had an email to say I'd sold a cd for £11.49 on Amazon - but that fees for the sale were £2.71, plus vat at .41. Is that right? I thought they were meant to take .86p closing fee, plus .28 admin fee from the postage plus the 17.25% vat - so how on earth did it come to over £3 fees?

Don't forget that the postage allowance is much lower for CDs. P+P charge to the buyer is only £1.24 so you end up with a lot less than you would for a book.0 -

Hi everyone,
I am having a problem similar to what someone else had last week. I just got an email from amazon saying my listing had been closed but I am not sure if it sold because there was no 'dispatch now' email and there is nothing in my seller account 'recent orders' tab to show that it has sold. Read this and tell me what you think:

It looks like it sold because it says quantity 0, and quantity sold 1, also when I click on the link it takes you to the page you normally go to when its sold, it llooks like its sold but I don't know who too. The problem is its a lot of money and I don't want to upset whoever my buyer is.
Whoever this happened to this week, please help!!!

if I am buying 'blind' I wouldn't spend more than about 50p on a book as I am just about the worst judge of what sellsHowever, I often have th eopportunity to check Amazon before I buy, so in that case would go to a couple of pounds if I knew I was likely to get a sale.
More usually though I pay roughly 40p a book where those books go for between £5-£10 on Amazon.

Hi tabath - up until this last Christmas I wouldn't buy novels at all but now with swapit I'll be looking out for good condition ones to use a currency (or bait!) for a better swap so for those I'd pay around 20 -30 pence.
For reference and non fiction books I'd pay around 50 pence but and it's a big but if I've had the luxury of searching a book before I buy it and I'm 90% certain that it's going to sell then I'll pay no more than around 1/3 of the price that it's going for on amazon.
The thinking behind this is if it's up for £30 I might not get that and end up with nearer £25 then deduct fees, maybe extra postage if it's heavy and tax etc I'll still get a fair return, but I stress it has to be a 90% certainty for me to go that high.0 -

Kat, have you tried searching your transactions from your seller account? Or rather than faff about with that, you could try ringing the Amazon freephone helpline on 0800 279 6620 and ask them to confirm the position.0 -
Thanks purplepatch, I just checked this morning and I got the 'sold dispatch now' email, so I was just freaking out prematurely. It's just because I have never received that kind of email from amazon before.
Thanks for your help, crisis averted.
