  • It does seem to be open to unscrupulous buyers playing the system and abusing it but from my own experience of over 3 years of Amazon selling no-one has ever asked to return an item so I've not come across this problem, 99.9% of my sales are books so I suppose there is less to go wrong with a book or maybe I've just been lucky

Book buyers are generally a different breed and far less trouble than buyers of DVD's and Computer Software both of which can easily be copied within seven days.

Unfortunately, the DSR was developed before internet selling existed and doesnt really cover a lot of new and important aspects.

It also works on the basis the customer is always right and honest!
  • The more I read about the 'new' stuff like phones, computer software, DVDs etc the happier I am selling my 70 year old china and old fashioned books, I've been left behind in a 20th century backwater and it suits me just fine here!

What you are forgetting is that selling through Amazon gives the buyer considerable protection and the buyer doesnt pay the seller they pay Amazon. So it is not a straightforward contract between private individuals.

You are absolutely right, that was the bit I wasn't thinking of!!

    Thank you

    Thanks everyone for your advice.

I received a reply from the buyer saying that she had purchased it as a gift and therefore needed region 2, she said she would pay postage and send it back to me if I refund her. I said yes, I thought it was fair enough really, if she pays postage back and amazon refund my fees then I haven't lost out.

It's interesting to learn about amazon's rules, I will remember in future that they are entitled to a refund, then I won't get upset about it.

Sold an ice crusher yesterday and a book, so one a day is still working out, its funny that as soon as I signed up for pro-merchant I didn't get a sale in 2 days! Typical!

For two days running I have listed a couple of books and then only an hour or two later - one of them has sold!

Is there a facility that shows new books listed or is this just a coincidence?

  • would it be very bad of me to wonder if some amazon sellers sabotage other sellers

Ive the same item sold subject to pending which obviously never completes, three times now (this morning being the latest) and each time it just leaves one other seller left with a much higher priced one (which also doesnt sell)
See the stars they’re shining bright
    Everything’s alright tonight
  • That has happened to me as well - I did wonder about sabotage? However, the CD in question sold eventually.

I've just had a whole load of my things come to the end of their 60 day listing and am so despondent I can't even be bothered to relist them.
