Yippee - I sold another one!!!
Thank you for this thread - I'm glad that there are people to get excited with!!
M
larmy - great sale, wish I read books like that so I could then sell them, the ones I read aren't very expensive!!! But I like my buyers cause they buy from me not someone else!!!!0 -
Thanks for your replies AT and jo_b (I miss the thanks button!)
Still haven't decided on a seller name, will go and have a browse and look for inspiration.
Most of the stuff I want to sell is non-fiction, but I just checked out a few fiction titles that I also have and AT's first post is SOOOO right, they go for peanuts! Hopefully my boring books will go for a bit more (anyone tried selling literary criticism? Does it sell?Must do, I bought it at some point :rotfl: )

After a very quiet week on the amazon front, I've just sold a recipe book for £12 :T to someone who shares a surname with a famous chef :rotfl:0

AT - you are most likely right about the parcel post. I decided to send it first class, because I thought as he paid so much he deserved to get it hopefully next day!(I will never make a business woman!), but I never knew the bit about insuring it for £1 to get cover for £100. That is good to know - thank youGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I post all my books second class, I've not had any complaints about that. The ones who have contacted me to say thanks have thanked me the day after I posted it!! I've just found one letter I sent first class took three days to get there......
sorry, just had to add, Larmy - I love your signature
Wow - and then my thanks reappeared......0 -
I also send everything light enough by 2nd class post and have had lots of feedback mentioning how quickly I post, so it must be OK.
Obviously for books over £32 I would use SPecial delivery, but i've only had to do that twice so far.
I always ship airmail though overseas, but don't sell an awful lot really outside the UK.
If I could also include a whinge while I'm typing..have you seen how much Amazon take from video sales? Here's one from yesterday:
Buyer's Price: £6.40
Postage & Handling: £2.75
Total Amount: (£9.15)
Less Amazon.co.uk Marketplace Fees: (£2.86)
Less VAT on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace: (£0.42)
Total Due Seller: £5.87

Just a quick question please. I sold my first book on Monday eve. I emailed the buyer to let them know I would be posting first thing on Tuesday, and I then emailed on Tuesday morning as soon as the book had been posted. I didn't receive any emails back from him.
So my question is....how do I know that my buyer received the book. It wasn't expensive so didn't need Special delivery or anything like that.
Reading previous posts on this thread it seems to me that buyers don't tend to leave feedback, therefore, do you only know that a book hasn't got there if the buyer emails you or complains?
Hope that makes sense!Sell £1000 challenge - £0/£1500 - No.80

Carrot, I have only have only sold 4 items so far, One guy emailed me to say he had received it, but did not leave feedback, one didnt email , but left great feeback and the other 2..I havn't heard anything! I assume the got their items as I would have had emails from them asking where their goods are.
I guess its if the buyer wants / has the time to conatact/ leave feedback.
I take it that if I dont hear anything, then they got the items ok and are happy.
HTH.
