Yes, me and egg will be definitely officially over shortly......the time has come to move on.

I don't suppose Egg are really any worse than most of their peers......if you get on ok with them, they are fine, if you don't....well, then you are going to fight one battle after another.

Thanks :D (blame Beanie she keeps encouraging me :p)

There's still a 65p balance that I cant pay off (because the account is closed) but *apparently* they are going to write it off - luckily I had this conversation in bank via another member of there staff whose name I took so I do have some come back - its showing as zero balance and closed their end anyway (I hope)
  • A lot of tired people around the last couple of days, I hope you all find a bit of time to rest.

Hypno, I'm delighted you've got holiday due - a fortnight - Hurrah! Pants to E*g though. Hope you can tell close the card without fuss and bother. "Keep it simple" is a mantra that's getting me through right now. I appreciate that's not suitable for a stockbroker at work, but hope that might help at home.

I've just read that the UEA in Norwich are looking for volunteers to eat dark chocolate on a daily basis so they can measure the potential health benefits. Would you be interested? :p No need to look at the date of this - it's not 1 April.

They've got the first set of volunteers coming to the end of their first year and now want to take on more. There's some criteria relating to who can volunteer (i.e., women only) but it's worth a look. Visit the bbc website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/norfolk/8162886.stm

Can you imagine if an MSEr gets to volunteer for this - What a diary that would be :rotfl:The rest of us writing/reading first posts of the day about getting 10p on the scratchies (ad infinitum) and the volunteer writing about eating chocolate (ad infinitum) :D

Sleep dreams everyone. Grateful thanks for all the posts and sharing. :A

Sorry to hear about Egg (again?!!)

Before you close the account perhaps it would be worth trying to get them to cancel the £16 fee for going over the limit? Worth a try.

So, you find a way of doing it so they are involved.....

When I first becamse a DFW and really focused on my debt rather than just drowning in it, I got the children involved. I opened a separate savings account and explained that everything has a price, it is up to each of us to decide whether that price is worth paying...

So, we used to pay a lad from the village £5 to cut the lawns once a week. But if we did them ourselves, then we saved £5....we could buy birthday wrapping paper for £1 from the shop or we could make our own from paper and pen at home.....we could buy a drink from the shop, or wait until we got home, have squash, and save 50p....

Each time we did this, we put the money in the new savings account, and the children soon enjoyed seeing the balance go up, which then paid for the deposit for a ski trip in due course...

They very quickly started to think about the "value" of money, and the alternatives to spending it, and this has stayed with them over the years. It is a case of involving them, not just saying "no" to them.

I was really impressed with the phiolospay (excuse spelling), I have done the same with dd from a young age, even when she was in a pushchair, I use to say its one of the other.
I've chatted to her about money, and shes got her head screwed on, almost too well!!
I put £15 a month into bank acccount, for her and give her £1 a week, usually thurs, so last week gave it her on wed, and she said its not due to Thurs, does that mean that I get another £1 tomorrow.

Same here, esp with cinema, we do the sat am films couple times a month, and if we do a normal film its Wed 2 4 1, but same as you exolain one item from here v 5 from somewhere else, and that surveys, clicks, shopping vouchers etc all go up 4hols, day trips etc. Shes only 6, but has a heart of gold, we get Bailey (springer spaniel puppy.......) nxt month, so hard as we lost ours 22nd June, the house just isn't the same.

We were up at Rhyl for the day, she brought Bailey a toy £2.00, then she saw a doogie cushion for £5.00 all her money, offered to go half, and she wouldn't let me, she paid for it herself xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

hiphouse - that is a fab opportunity. Sadly I do not fit into their required category........but if I did, I would be applying like a shot!

verbatim, I have tried reclaiming the fee, but they say no - I went over, so I pay.

Payday today :T So number crunching will take place when I get to my desk this morning......always a good start to the day :D

Off to do the rest of the banking and scratchcards.......have a good day, everyone x
