Hypno's approach to life, the universe and debtbusting.....

So it makes me wonder whether I would be better just to forget any other form of credit other than my mortgage when I move house, and just work on what we have left, and accept things as they are for the time being, keep chipping away at the remaining debt, and save up as much as I can for a deposit to get me the best mortgage offer at the time.....
.....and not worry about anything else other than making sure my income is at least equal to, and preferably slightly more than, my basic outgoings.
Talk about stating the blinking obvious - I have just read back what I posted, and I can't believe there is any "maybe I should......" about it :rotfl:

I think that was the reason behind my thinking, but even that has proved to be a stress I can really do without - obviously!

The banks/finance houses are there to make money. If you have an exemplary record at not ever giving them a penny for your credit card, they are not likely to love you.
If you have no record, good or bad, at giving them money they might take a punt on you."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Awww Hypno - mouth ulcers are vile aren't they. :-(
Re Egg, when you write to them to close the card, ensure that you use the word "harassment" a lot. That won't do their customer service people's blood pressure any good!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

If you get rid of the Egg - have you got a back-up plan for a real emergency - or would it be wiser to hang on to it till you have a (even a tiny one) emergency fund in place? - just a thought - before you tell them where to go once and for all - but if you have a cunning plan for emergencies - take great delight in getting rid at the earliest opportunity.
I too had a sleepless night and have operated today in zombie mode. I have been having a few tummy probs since surgery several years ago which have really flared up at mo. I have been chasing the hospital up to be passed from pillar to post getting nowhere very fast. Anyway today at work a nurse came in to give us training on a precedure we will be doing next term on a child and lo and behold it was my old nurse who saw me through everything and all the aftercare - she has taken me back under her wing and is going to see if she can find out anything - spooky that she should turn up today when I was feeling really rubbish!!January spends - £587.580 -

milann, I am sorry you have not been feeling too good, and I hope that this nurse can get things sorted properly. It is obviously "meant to be" that she was there to day.
lucielle - what have you done with barclays......?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
ZTD - you just HAD to mention scones didn't you.......now I'm having an urge to make scones, and I've not even been visited by the Archangel Gabriel :rotfl::rotfl: (as that's about the only way I'd get with child and have a craving :rotfl:).
Hypno - EG% are evil, pure evil. They used to advertise years ago that they could help customers who thought they might have problems in the future...or something like that. Like a numpty I believed them. I called them not long after ex walked out, when I just started temping, had never missed a payment, and was using my card to pay for nursery, food, petrol, you know the fripperies of life. I asked whether they could lower my interest rate on my existing balance as I was on my own with a 4 month old baby yadda yadda yadda....
They instantly closed my account, before I'd even finished the conversation! It was my only card at the time. I was royally stuffed for a couple of weeks.......
Barstewards. As soon as I could I paid it off and wouldn't touch them again.0
