hi guys! Got back really late last night so I didn't have a chance to read or post!

I often still think of the "car mat" thing - it is one of those silly things that just makes me laugh randomly from time to time as it pops into my head :o

gallygirl, yes, we were in your neck of the woods yesterday. We didn't get to Fineshade as we spent too long lingering over lunch, but did walk through some woods at Wansford (can't remember their name) and saw just one kite instead. We will have to return to have another go another day.

shelley - DS delivers his papers down that road.......they give decent tips at Christmas! There are several down there that I would be interested in if they came up for sale. And plums would be ok too!

re the 30k we have paid off - if anyone is wondering, and thinking we must earn huge salaries to have done it.....my salary is £32k and OH's is £18k.......there is a huge amount of the money for paying down debt, therefore, which has come from "all things MSE" - taking in students, doing scratchcards, taking on second jobs, ebay, scrimping and saving etc.....If I were just paying off £30k out of "disposable income" then it wouldn't be difficult......but I am so grateful for this site and all the information and focus that comes with it, as that is what has made the difference!:T

Re the football - DS is a season ticket holder, and one of the first things I told him when he started going to matches, was that you NEVER leave the ground until the final whistle is blown. That said, he was not in the best of moods upon his return home yesterday!

Double scratch day today, so double 10p  Not complaining though, I am 20p better off than I was when I got up this morning!

Another dooyoo review written too......must do another one or two today, and also need to write scripts to record tomorrow evening

Not forgetting that August is "sort out the garden" month, so at the very least I need to get the lawns cut (job for the children) and get some brutal weeding done.

    Ooh, I got a total of £1.20 today on the scratchies - I don't think I've ever had a £1 before!

Glad you enjoyed yesterday, Hypno, friend for the day and late back is always a good combo for that.

Also glad you reminded us about the August-outside thing.... it got me to go back to an old project, of listing everything that needed doing in each area of the house. But this time, I've written *all* the tasks I could think of onto the lists, and integrated them into a to-do list for the month, one area a month. I haven't quite stuck to the "one area a month" bit, but I *am* doing jobs that need doing - this month is the bathroom, and I've been using a scraper in there to clean grout off tiles - so I used the same little scraper to clean the fireplace in the living room, which :o:o:o had paper stuck to it in places from when I stripped 5 layers of wallpaper off the walls. Never got round to cleaning up :o:o:o but that sort of thing *really* adds up, even tho I don't really care about it as such, little things like that add up to "tired and grubby" for a house.

    I am *such* a rubbish houseowner :D:D:D

I know what you mean - we get "comfortable" with the bits we never got round to finishing, or whatever, and then we get comfortable with a bit of clutter that we never got round to putting away, and before you know it we have somewhere that we don't feel "comfortable" with any more but it is suddenly a big job to get it sorted.

Once you get to the point of noticing the odds and ends though, it really annoys doesn't it!!
