Our garden is a wreck too. We have a 'lawn' that is bare mud - shade and too much foot traffic means the grass just doesn't grow. Hypno, do you know any DFW ways of getting free gravel or other ground cover?

I don't, sadly, other than just trying to get the best deal......we have no contacts in that sort of area. Even our friends who are landscape gardeners, and who have done bits for us in the past, think we are loaded.....I am sure the "special rate" he does for us, is "special" for him, certainly not for me

My Nana made a camomile lawn which was lovely - that might be easier to source?

Shaun - thanks for the smileys! At least I'm not actually green - I've even lost a bit of weight, which I needed, since my sister eats so much less than I do :o

Hypno - I'm not sure I understand what order you're paying things off on - the Egg loan first, but then what? Barclaycard? Is that the secured loan?

big BMW 1200cc bikes, which was fun. And the local patisserie was as good as ever - we had "religieuses", *massive* profiterole dumplings, filled with chocolate creme anglaise and coffee too. Fantastic.

I hope French cakes (and builders) and motorbikes made up for the swine!

I'm in with the August = garden month too.

I love this August = garden as I currently have a balcony with a few herb pots so whilst you're all toiling I can sit on the balcony and trim the mint into fun shapes :rotfl:

In my former house I had an overgrown herby garden bit that had lots of lemon thyme which smelt yummy when you trod on it :j

Did drive by on most recent candidate for my dream home. It looks totally gorgeous. The odd lumpy area I could identify on Google earth appears to be a shed!

KC, barclayloan is unsecured - just a bog standard loan from barclays but with their most terrifying rate of interest.

Our secured loan is with Halifax, and runs the same term as the mortgage at a similar rate, so is just an extension of the mortgage. Originally I didn't include it in the Debt Free Journey, concentrating on the unsecured stuff only. After all, I only get an annual statement for the secured loan, so it is nicely hidden from view  But as it was used to consolidate some of the other stuff, it should really be counted alongside the cards and loans rather than the mortgage.....

So the current probable order is:
    1. Egg
    2. Virgin
    3. Barclayloan
    4. Halifax
    or it could be
    1. Egg
    2. Barclayloan
    3. Virgin
    4. Halifax
    or it could be.........

Shelley, that house sounds as though it is worth a serious look inside. If you want someone to [STRIKE]be nosey[/STRIKE] give you an independent opinion, give me a shout :rotfl: In the meantime, enjoy your low maintenance balcony!

    Shaun, sleep well!

Hypno, loving the sound of the 12 month plan, I could do with one of those, but my plans are usually 10 year ones, like to give myself an easy target, lol.

I agree that Evil Egg should be first no matter what the APR with a party to celebrate :rotfl:
With the rest if possible I go for higher APR first. But understand having to save it all up before saying farewell to Barclays maybe more tricky to focus on. Too easy to dip into pot for extra strong coffee or skiing trips! But also have to take account of the psychological bonus of clearing an entire debt so if Virgin is smaller maybe that.

Have I just wittered on with no real conclusion  Service as normal!

I always value a [STRIKE]nosey[/STRIKE] helpful second opinion. Have requested formal details and will have to do some investigating about when it last sold and what for and what else has sold in that village recently. Then it maybe time to actually view!
