Morning all :hello:
Sorry I have been awol during the hols, have been concentrating on the kiddies rather than christmas & such like - I also think its healthy to take a break at times. So now I'm back & raring to go :j:j:j:j
Spent the weekend working out who I've got left to buy for & ideas for them. Have also been walking up to whsmiths each day to get the Daily Mirror, & the free star wars lego that comes with it to put up for ds1.
I agree with what others have put, if I won the lottery I'd still be thrifty, frugal and old style, but could do it on a larger scale, find bargains that would cost more, but still have huge savings on them, buy somewhere I could have chickens so I could have my own eggs, & an orchard etc for fruit trees.
Shall be back later to talk more, but (sorry for swearing) need to get the housework done. You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -

If you won the Lottery and had unlimited funds would you still be Thrifty Gifty??? Would you still shop in the £1 shop?? Would you still start your Christmas shopping in the January Sales???
Answers on a postcard LOL.......;)
Hi everyone
If I won the lottery I would firstly get the whole house re-decorated and get an interior designer in, not for anything fancy, but just so it looked more comfortable. Years ago I used to be able to 'visualise' exactly how a room should look and could buy the right things, but after having autistic kids who unfortunately wrecked the house, I've lost the ability and haven't bought anything new in years.
So a nice new look, then as I currently keep my craft things behind the sofa and armchairs, I'd want a nice place to keep them. My house has a complete lack of cupboard space, apart from one of the bedrooms (not my own).
Also want to get the garden overhauled, garage de-cluttered, all outside repairs done.
Then hire one of those people that go shopping with you, to help me get a new look and clothes to suit.
Christmas shopping - I would just continue doing as I am now. Too much change will probably send me mad :rotfl:0 -

I haven't emailed customer services yet as I thought i'd give it till perhaps Tuesday in case another parcel arrives. Strangely I ordered the vodka shots too and they're missing from my order too
Had email from HC this morning saying everything in my order was being despatched as ordered.
It arrived this afternoon, lo and behold, no Vodka sets!
Also, the make-up bag I ordered had come out of it's gift box along with all the brushes, which rattled around with everything and the poor delivery guy thought it was all broken! Luckily it wasn't.
Have emailed CS.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I found this tonight http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1111705 I am thinking about trying it with my 3 boys in December this year, my eldest son Kaleb is going to be 8 at the end of December, do you think that maybe it is a bit late to add a tradition like this to our house???
I love this idea, thanks so much- struggling to find elves though-amazon ones work out at £20 each inc post from USA, these are quite cute http://www.cloudberryliving.co.uk/Default.aspx?Cloudberry=1000&id=556 could perhaps make one like this if crafty (i'm not!)(Family of 5: 2 adults & 3 children aged 7yrs, 4yrs, and 18months)0 -

i share your sentiments, honestly i've been in saks 5th avenue on michigan avenue in chicago and saw a shirt there for $600 where i'd seen something almost identical the week before for $60 and that really got me at how stupid it is to waste money on names and such like (actually that was so many years ago the idea of spending even $60 on a shirt then or even now seems ridiculous!)
i'd still shop charity shops, might shop more main stream shops than normal but i wouldn't be in harrods or frasers etc i don't see the point. i think what i would do differently is buy the food i want when at the supermarket, not wasting just precisely what i wanted even if it wasn't the cheapest or on sale and when at shops be it high street or charity shops i wouldn't have to be so tight about the cash, but i would still put stuff back even if it was just a quid if it wasn't right for me...0 -
Got an email from halfcost-
Thank you for your recent e-mail. I am very sorry to hear of the condition in which your parcel was delivered.
It would appear that your parcel has somehow been mixed up with a different customers which is why you've received items you did not order.
To rectify this situation we will need to arrange for your goods to be either re-ordered or refunded. Delivery for a re-order would be within 7-10 days. With regards to the incorrect parcel, I have arranged a collection for you. I have arranged a collection for you; the courier will call to pick up the parcel within the next 2-7 days.
Please clarify if you would like us to re-order the items from your order?
Replied saying I'd love my original parcel, but as a majority of items are out of stock, I presume they will be sourcing them for me!
So wait + see.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
