Ok you sign up for what ever reason konowing or being lazy to read it all. Every membership set to auto renewal by default is a scam!

If you are too lazy to read what you are signing up for, you deserve everything you get!

Those people who DID sign up to Amazon Prime should just be thankful that Amazon are being as reasonalbe about refunding the charges as they are.

They are well within their rights to retain the money, they will have proof that you signed up.

But who's fault is that???? It took me all of 2 secs to find the info above .... or look at this site http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_lnav_dyn?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200182130

    Does my membership renew automatically?

Not difficult to find - don't see how it is a scam!!

I signed up for the free trial as I wanted some books for a holiday and wanted them next day.

Put a note in my diary two days before the trial was due to expire saying 'Amazon Prime renews in two days time' and then cancelled it before the end of the trial.

    Simples!

Same with the LoveFilm trials as well.

But you're missing the most important point.
For many people, it's far easier to call something a scam and blame someone else rather than admitting that you made a mistake and either didn't read the smallprint (or "boldprint" in this case) or read it and simply forgot to cancel.

You can go into your account any point of the month and untick the "renew automatically" box, and when the month comes to an end you won't be charged.

lol @ this thread. Amazon Prime is awesome. We spend about £200 a month on there and it all comes next day without fail. I love how I can order a packet of pens for a few quid one day and it be here the next without factoring in postage.

Just wanted to give them some love in this bizarre thread. xx

This has happened to me also, I knew I had ticked prime when I ordered, but didn't see anything about being charged an annual fee!

I've just called the freephone number, and got the £49 refunded.

Then you didn't read the relevant information - which was right in front of you.

When you get to the 'choose a delivery speed' bit it gives you the choice of:

    Choose a delivery speed:
FREE Super Saver Delivery (2 - 4 business days)
First Class (up to 2 business days) radio-off._V192185023_.gif
FREE One-Day Delivery with a free trial of amazon_prime_sm._V192252576_.gif (1 business day) (Learn more)
Express Delivery : get it guaranteed by 1pm tomorrow, Saturday, November 20

If you click on FREE One-Day Delivery with a free trial of Amazon Prime, a big box pops up that explains EXACTLY what you are signing up for.
You then have the choice to start your free trial or say 'No Thanks'.

You HAVE to tick one of the boxes to continue with your order.

So I don't see how you can say you didn't see anything about being charged an anuual fee.
