Southern water have just changed their billing system and have finally sent out invoices up to jan this year...6 months late! CHECK your bill...mine does not bear any relation to the balance of the previous old invoice and it shows payments made for this year NOT the period of the billing.Their estimate of the meter reading is correct but I work out they are overcharging me by £50
    IT IS A SHAMBLES......CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY:confused:
    Nice to save.

When I first moved in, I was on rates and paid around £23 per month for my water. I have since changed to a meter.

My water bill has now dropped to £9 a month - a huge saving. :)
I moved house and my water rates rose from £16 to £40ish. I went on the uswitch site and used the calculator carefully (now have garden)and estimated that even with watering I would be much better off. clicked on the bit that offered to send someone round to discuss whether a meter would be possible. Man arrived but instead of discussion said he had come to install the meter which was a bit of a shock. However I am paying £11.45 a month based on their estimate which looks like a good thing. but have not had an actual bill yet so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Have bought water butts as well of course
  • i have been in my house for 2 year this oct and have finially had a water bill can anyone say if we are using alot of water - we try and save much as we can but with 3 kids it is quite hard when they acciently leave hosepipe on etc...

it works out a daily average of 0.31 cubic metres? as I have nothing to compare this with is this high low the norm??

    thanks

Can anyone help with a quickie?

I moved into to my flat over 9 months ago but have yet to receive my first bill from Yorkshire Water. They are taking a DD out each month, but i've no way of knowing if what I pay is enough.

Should I contact them or wait?
This space is available to rent... :D

When moving house when can you expect your 1st water bill. Have just realised that i've been in my house a year soon (20th Oct) and not received a water bill. Not been paying my DD either. Company is aware as i spoke directly to them to change address and even had a letter addressed to use telling us where our water meter was and when a reading was last taken.

So why no contact from them with a bill?

Could be a number of reasons; inefficiency being the most likely!!

It is now a completely different account, so they will not ‘connect’ your name with the new account.

Water bill forwarded to old owners new address, who have ignored it, or even paid it?

Or old owners have continued paying it by DD!!

If a meter cannot be fitted for any reason you can normally insist on being placed on an assessed charge. This is the average charge for a single person(in your case) in your area.

Tell them that is what you want, or that they pay to make your property compatible with a meter.

All companies have a commitment to fit a meter without charge and they should do this or give you an assessed charge; it is a nonsense that they should expect you to pay for a free meter.

If they won't play ball, go to Energywatch
