Teens keeping their room clean

I don't mind a mess too much, but I really really object to things getting ruined and broken. And clean clothes being thrown all over the floor.
Partly because of the state of his room, and partly because of his general attitude, over the last week, my 15 yr old has lost internet access, then his laptop and his stereo is being confiscated tomorrow, if his room is still trashed.
I reminded him he can get it all back for about 30mins work, but his reply was 'I don't like being coerced' - so now its a battle of wills!

My dd did this too. We have come to a summer holiday arrangement. Everyday she has to pick up 10 things off her floor and put them away. She says she did it today but I couldn't spot the difference. So in future she can do it when I get back from work.
I haven't actually seen the floor for weeks so it is probaly going to take th ewhole 6 weeks. That is if she doesn't leave any new stuff on the floor.
She has a wardrobe a dressing table with 4 drawers. Two sets of 4 drawers and one set of six drawers, and a double spare kitchen unit on the wall. So it could be done.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
