Just found this thread and I had to look at the last post before carrying on reading - needed to know it was going to be a happy ending! What a beautiful little doggy she is, and so lucky to have found your friend and so many caring neighbours. Wishing you all the best.

Re raising it off the ground. I think you could get a wooden pallet - we have some for our log supply, to keep them off the ground. Usually free as they are broken up after whatever was on them has been delivered. Ring a few haulage firms - tell them what you want it for.

The pallet will lift it off the ground and you can put some polystyrene with some roofing felt over it to keep it dry for her.
  • This is such a great thread! I am so glad it all turned out well and that Lady and your friend have bonded.

  • Hi all,

Right its been decided my friend is keeping Lady!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay

She has been to the vet tonight for a full check up and is very healthy a cross beagle (sp?) and spaniel so we are naming her breed as bangle! They think she is about 4 to 5 years old and apart from a bit of tartar on her teeth that doesn't need anything doing she is great.

Now onto insurance, My vet bills for my dog since January are at almost £4000 so I really believe in insurance even though I have to pay an excess & a percentage due to her age its still so worth it for the peace of mind in my book. Ive been put in charge of the searching so am looking for a lifetime contract etc but I'm not sure what to put down for her age do I put 4 or 5? and as for breed do I just put cross breed? Sorry if daft questions but don't want to have a problem with a claim at a later date because details were wrong.

    Hi all,

I'm not sure what to put down for her age do I put 4 or 5? and as for breed do I just put cross breed? .

I'd put 4ish down, explaining that you don't know for sure. That way you get an extra year before the 10 year premium hike. I did that for my mutt ( guesstimate 1-2 when I got her.) I think I put the middle (1 1/2) down and they upgraded it to 2. If I'd have realised, I'd have put 1ish down and said it was a guesstimate.

Put down crossbreed, that'll be fine.
She really is a lovely looking dog, glad it all worked out for you.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I have just read the whole thread and im so glad that it all turned out so well :D

RE the kennel. Could your friend fit a 6x4 shed in her garden? Have ad a quick look on ebay and there are quite a few at resonable prices, all she would need to do is insulate the sides and floor with some polystyrene, and she could cut a hole out for access.
  • 6x4 might be a bit too big but thanks for looking.

Oh, Bangle would be a lovely name for her.

Check out the big pet insurance thread we have going on here. Basically, AXA, NFU, Petplan seem to be the ones most people think are the best policies.
