I sometimes feel a bit guilty posting on here, as I'm able to subdue the housework pretty easily these daysI promise you, though, it hasn't been easy and I need to keep working at it otherwise everything will start slipping again. Keep at it, and you'll succeed :T
Does anyone have a magic solution as to how to deal with receipts?
I stick each month's into an old envelope (A5 sized) labelled on the outside. I then chuck the regular receipts (groceries, petrol, etc) as I reconcile the monthly accounts, and keep receipts for large or electrical items in another envelope. All envelopes are kept in a box on the shelf
Anyone else watching Anthony Gormley's latestI didn't apply as I had no idea what to do on a plinth for 60 mins. Neither did most of the participants, apparently

had a go at Macro writing so that's good. Have vision of Jink and Carlsberg sat a t the back of the flyclass with their skirt waistbands rolled over, fags secreted about their naughty persons and giggling like naughty schoolgirls lol flicking bits of rubber at the swots at the front :rotfl:
Thanks Polly - will take the lot then inc birth cert.
receipts I save the ones for anything I might have to take back in a year envelope (eg labelled 2009) at the end of the year it goes into an old handbag in the bottom of the handbag wardobe (shh) and I keep them in there for a year. I shred grocery ones though once they have been noted in my bank account spread sheet. I have a separate envelope for xmas receipts.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -

Busy week, we just got the keys to our new shop, my family, DH and I opened a takeaway sandwich shop in August and the new one will be a coffee and sandwich bar. We were buying the equipment off the previous tenant but he tried to s***w us so we haven't paid him a penny and now need to buy new stuff. Dirty pig that he is pee'd in every toilet before he left! But it's a nice place, really nice and will be even nicer when me mum and dad finish painting over the lime green walls! :eek:0 -

Interesting webcam too, am going to keep an eye on it. I turned it on just in time to see someone getting off and someone else getting on.
If this headache doesn't go soon I am going to go mad. I've just given in and taken some painkillers, I really hope they don't set off my tummy problem, I really can't cope with that today. I'm sorry for moaning when I know so many of you have real health problems to deal with but I'm going seriously mad here.

Obviously you're all much more organised with your paperwork than I am
I think I need to get into a routine for it. I never reconcile my accounts... my budget spreadsheet hasn't been touched for at least a couple of years
and I have a feeling that I might actually need to know what state my finances are in soon, including where I can make savings (actually, that's pretty easy - stop shopping
).
Much as I hate selling stuff because of the effort involved, I think I might have to sell the next lot of books I clear out rather than giving them away. It'll give me something to do while work is less of a priority!
I've made good progress on clearing my desk - I can see parts of it now! I need to clear my noticeboard too. And I have loads of partly used notebooks & notepads that I need to start working my way through rather than buying new ones all the time...
jinky - I think maybe you need to concentrate on the decluttering missions for a bit... it'll be much easier to get stuff out if you clear it away from the back door
Two friends were supposed to be coming over for supper tonight, but one of them has cancelled - she copied both of us on the cancellation, but the other person hasn't responded to the email, or to the text I sent her, so I don't know whether she's coming. It's irritating, as its peeing down again, so i could do with going to the gym to get my last 3000 steps done today! It'll be a challenge trying to get that many done in the house.0
